And if you cannot understand that nothing is 100% "safe and effective" and/or find it acceptable that an "eliminated" disease can come back and get people sick, please see this:

https://www.facebook.com/RtAVM

and

https://twitter.com/RtAVM

Someone on another website reminded me that "100% natural" doesn't mean it is safe, using asbestos as an example. Also, is this UK "government" (note that when the government agrees with your conspiracy hypothesis, they are good people) database self-reporting? Because did you know it is a "fact" that the flu vaccine can turn someone into the Incredible Hulk?

http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2008/01/18/how-vaccine-litigation-distorts-the-vaer/

Unfortunately, the link to Laidler's "side effect" is broken, but it is on his Wikipedia page.

All I am going to say about this is that "I didn't read it because I assumed" is VERY UNscientific.

I'm sorry if you actually arguing in favour of getting vaccinated but part of the reason why I didn't read that letter is because I don't believe in that paranormal stuff. I used to believe in it when I was a teenager but stopped believing in it because I came to a realisation that it has never been demonstrated that any such phenomena truly existed and as far as religion is concerned, I've never seen a convincing argument that demonstrates that any particular belief system is any truer than any other.

I am also going to be forced to assume that your "stance" towards "para-normal" phenomenon is also due to a NON-reading of its SOURCE material (like you decided to only read third-party material & adopt the opinions of appeal-to-authority by 'authors' such as Randi/Hyman/Blackmoore/Dawkins/Wiseman/etc).

How-ever, everybody can be easily debunked, both the believers and disbelievers alike due to the fact that para-normal phenomenon is really just due to alien-level nano-technology quantum-awareness-system implant-devices, and easily explains such things as reincarnation-memories being actually due to said nano-particle devices, and that the memories that were recorded from a previous host were simply being re-played to the current host, even though we all know that the person's memories of previous lives weren't from reincarnation; they were re-plays of recorded information from its previous hosts within an alien-implant-device !

Pertussis - another serious illness making a comeback and if you ever heard how someone sounds when they have this...it is really scary. All seven kids in this story have Pertussis diagnoses and were thus quarantined, a five month old infant and elderly relatives all exposed, convinced this mother to defect from the anti vaxxers:

We were not looking for informed consent when Small Pox was eradicated.

The same for Polio, World Public Health comes before individual rights. Ask Typhoid Mary.

There is risk, Peanuts, Walnuts, Seafood kill some people.

Besides outright death, the Gluten in grains, Milk products, can cause long term ill health.

A large enough group, I am sure there were deaths and worse from the Small Pox Vaccine.

It was worth it that the killer of millions was stopped.

We were making progress against Malaria when DDT was banned. Excessive and continued use of DDT did seem to cause problems. Those problems would not show up from dusting Africa a few times, and millions of lives would have been saved. Places with a high death rate value life less, and reproduce more to compensate.

Treating the tropics in the 1950s would have changed the world.

A hundred years ago Yellow Fever killed a lot in New Orleans, and almost everyone in some Florida towns. The thing that stopped epidemics was everyone died.

There are other fevers in the tropics that are moving north with warming, illegal aliens, Dengue, Black Water, and many without names. We also have West Nile, Equine Encephalitis, Flesh eating Bacteria, for some new and rising plagues.

The 1918 Flu was a Steamship disease that killed fifty million. Now we have planes that cover the world.

Ellis Island scanned immigrants for disease, now they cross into Arizona at night. Ebola flew to Texas.

Risks get higher with greater numbers, a stressed population, illegals, homeless, and faster international transport.

As a motorcyclist I have to wear a helmet, because the State has been stuck with the cost of brain injury, and the same logic holds for Measles, where high fever can cause brain injury in children, including lifetime retardation.

It is a Social Shared Risk. Vaccination is a minor risk, a child with measles a major risk.

I am sure the MMR Vaccine has damaged some and killed a few. In millions, there will be a few who react badly.

Autism just happens to appear at the same age as children get MMR Vaccine. Autism existed before the Vaccine, 1963, and any rate rise in Autism was not seen until the 1990s. Most of that is credited with better screening, and learning the different presentation shown in girls.

Also the rise has been in Asperger's Autism, not the profound disabling type which has had constant numbers.

Bookish Geek Syndrome was around before it was called Asperger's.

We do not have Vaccines for a lot of things, a new Flu would take a year to catch up, and could kill millions.

We have the best defense we can produce, and it does work, but we have to all work together.

Wear a helmet, a condom, and get your shots.

So, if a child has a severe peanut allergy that can kill him, and his parents send him to school with the request other kids not bring peanut butter sandwiches to school for lunch or eat them before arriving, the kid's parents are imposing on the other kids parents's freedom of choice and liberty with that request and it is fine to deny the request and let the kid with the allergy risk dying from an attack all because the parent's precious freedom of choice is the most important thing, even more important than the kid with the allergy's life?

All irrelevant. Among logical fallacies, it is called Reductio ad Absurdum. The body of law in the United States is currently and overwhelmingly on the side of personal choice. Instead of imagined scenarios and examples, let's focus on the idea that these many protective laws are correct or incorrect under the Constitution for the United States of America, not whim.

Sounds like, if parents don't actually give their teenage children the option of having sex, there's absolutely no reason for vaccinating them against any sexually transmitted disease. They could let them know the vaccines exist, but they're not getting them till they're adults and buy them with their own hard-earned money.

Such girls and young women may be raped. 1 in 5 women has at least one attempted or completed rape in her lifetime, according to this source which cites the CDC:

http://www.rwu.edu/campus-life/health-c ... hs-and-fac

In spreading STCs, consent generally doesn't matter. In addition, rapes may not always be immediate reported, due largely to the psychological impact of the act upon the victim and attempts by the perpetrator to isolate the victim.

I doubt, too, the ability of conservative families to prevent teenage sex from occurring. If anything, their way of raising children may make the teenage sex more dangerous, due to keeping from teenagers knowledge about safe-sex practices or to even fib about them, both themselves and by lobbying to impose such policies on the educational system.

Looking at this, HPV is quite common. I would doubt very very strongly that any traditionally conservative upbringing of one's child could protect them to any significant degree:

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/hpv/vac-faqs.htm

The campaign appears to be from an attempt to start reducing the incidence of HPV over a long period of time in order to make life-threatening complications very rare.

Admittedly, I'm still reading it. The guide appears to be informative.

You don’t need to be a conservative, or to withhold any kind of knowledge from them. In fact, it’s probably better if you bore them no end with repetitive and lengthy talks about how wonderful sex is, and ask them uncomfortable questions about what they know in that regard and what they do when they’re alone in bed or in the bathroom, so they try to avoid the topic. Meanwhile, keep them unable to reach any situation in which they’d have enough privacy with an opposite-sex teenager, and too busy to even think of how to try to overcome those barriers and what sort of reward they’d be looking forward to. Any chance they have, it’s because you gave it to them, not the other way round.

This isn't an imagined scenario. Many public and private daycares and schools have nut restrictions, parents sometimes complain because it's inconvenient when it doesn't involve their child, they want to feed their child what they want, and aren't able to.
