Apparently "Ivermectin" has also achieved some good results in tests.

There’s a trial of many different potential drugs starting this week in the UK managed by the folks at Oxford University, using thousands of volunteers.
I linked to an article about it on page 34 of the “Serious Coronavirus thread. No deniers” thread this morning: the guy heading it hopes to get back to the rest of us with positive or negative results within the next month(!)
Edit: (this is weird) I posted this yesterday afternoon, but the time stamp I’m seeing says quarter to seven this morning. Peculiar...

I'd still be worried. I don't want to make someone seriously ill even if they survive and I don't want more low risk people to get it because they might pass it onto someone who's high risk.

Too soon? No. I’m not in favour of doing it too soon anywhere.
Here, where I live, BC’s curve has been compared to South Korea’s - so - pretty good. Our politicians & minister of health are talking about easing restrictions as early as May 15th. And they’ll be eased in stages vs everything full on at once.
Whether they do it May 15th or not for another month or whatever, personally I’m going to remain locked down for at LEAST a month longer than when things restart up again so that I can see what happens with the numbers and any second wave outbreaks - especially on construction sites where I work. There’s no running water or soap almost ever and it’s virtually impossible to do proper social distancing despite the industry being allowed to carry on working even right now. So I’d rather wait it out and see how things go vs do anything too risky when I don’t Have To return to work yet and still have an income while chilling at home on staycation. I would likely survive just fine, but if I contracted it and spread it to my parents it could kill them - especially my dad. Soooo I’ll just stay the F at home longer than we’re told we have to. Another month or two or more isn’t going to kill me - but retuning to work too soon could kill them.
And then even when I do go back to work I’m sure It’ll be a different world of extreme precautions and hazmat style disinfecting every time I come home etc until there’s a vaccine or this thing fizzles out or whatever eventual solution there is. We may go back to work but we won’t be fully back to regular life for quite some time yet.. maybe a year or two even. Time will tell.
So when you think economy, don't think of some rich white guy in a suit. Think of a single minority mother with three young children to feed and shelter.
Covid19 is not the Spanish Flu or the Bubonic Plague. It's not even remotely close to that. It's not even close to the flu which takes out at least 650,000 people per flu season.
More than adequate measures have been taken.
Apirl 30th is a resonable time to start things going again.
Based on your expertise or life experience in what area of medicine or epidemiology?
As for the economics of it: Wealthy countries like the USA can provide for their citizens for a while with relative ease. They just have to have the political will to do it. Unfortunately, your leadership has the political will to prop up big businesses instead of providing food and shelter for citizens with the same resources. How monumentally stupid is that?
