That and it also emboldens people who believe hate crime is an overhyped or fake concept. This is why despite whatever nuance may be involved I have no sympathy for Jussie Smollett and contempt for people who still support him.

1. At 2am on a coldest day , Smollett buys a sandwich.
2. Then afterwards, despite a vicious attack, including bleach being poured on Smollett, the sandwich was unharmed.

So, this was the case of THE UNHARMED SANDWICH.

Jussie Smollett's Subway sandwich was key to case, ex-Chicago police superintendent says

Also, MAGA's are not usually the type to watch 'The Empire' nor do they or anybody else likely have advanced knowledge that Smollett would be buying a sandwich at 2 AM on that day, at that place. In addition when it is that cold people are very bundled up and often unrecognizable.

C'mon you have to admit this is really really rare for black people to fake an attack by Nazis or the KKK. It's hardly worth contemplating.

You do know that all this detective work supposedly dreamed up by some "erudite" right winger was figured out by the black community immediately? long before this verdict this was all part of Dave Chapelles comedy sketch
- MAGA hat dudes who hate gays but watched empire
- the extreme unlikely scenario of trudging out in the snow at -30 to buy a salad sandwich

LOL, it was figured out by literally everyone with half a brain immediately, it was only on the right that it was openly discussed, as everyone else was so terrified of being called a racist in public that they held their tongues. Chappelle's routine was old news to anyone on the right, they'd basically written those jokes for him, he could have pulled every single one of them off of any right leaning board or forum within 2 days of the event happening, it was only shocking to liberals.

The remaining mystery is why an A list actor thought he could get away with it. There are such things as security cameras.

His acting on Gayle King where he lied to the camera was pretty weird.

I expect he will have to pay back all costs incurred in searching for these MAGA phantoms.

It's hard to work out which part of the whole situation was worse:
The false claims about a "homophobic" "racist" hate crime, which (through its exposure as a hoax) lessens the public's outrage (and\or belief) regarding actual crimes of this nature
or
The attempts to cover up the fact that it was a hoax, and to protect those responsible for it because of the "side" they were on\connections they had.

Well, clearly he thought he was much more clever than he turned out to be, and honestly, he might have gotten away with it if he hadn't made the details quite so outlandish, people were sure eager to believe him when the supposed incident seemed to confirm their priors.

I'm probably not telling you anything you don't know already, but when it comes to "hate crimes" in America, the surest way not to embarrass yourself is to treat them as fake until proven otherwise, as we have a real victimology industrial complex here. Oddly enough, it bears some similarity to the way the media drives mass shootings, by broadcasting to various disaffected individuals a sure-fire way to get attention and sympathy from a massive audience, and it goes back decades, Al Sharpton and Tawana Brawley being the arch example.

I for one would certainly like to see an independent inquiry into Kim Foxx and why she tried to kill the case, that's the shadiest part of the whole business.

If and when he's rehabilitated he should cross off script writing from his potential future career paths.

If I had a dollar for every time you mentioned these words I could consider retiring.

The two biggest marketing tools in the last 20 years for Subway, Jared Fogle and Jussie Smollet

What's more is a MAGA would have eaten that sandwich.
