You're right. Many countries would be 100 times worse to live in.
The "Bible Belt" is not as bad as some might say.  All I ever had to do was be myself, and folks there left me alone.

I know someone who attempted suicide by taking a bunch of Tylenol.

She would have succeeded too if she hadn't called her husband to tell him what she had done, and he hadn't gotten her to the hospital to get her stomach pumped. Or maybe he called 911 for and ambulance, I don't remember which.

My oldest friend succeeded. It was not a good death, not quick or painless. She lingered.
Tylenol is a bad, bad option.

Living in this part of the Bible Belt and was astounded at the amount of people including neighbours that would go along ways out of there way to try to rip me off, even strangers,
actually home owner neighbours and would attempt to sick their relatives on me . That they must of described me as easy target , Even trying to swindle me out of the family home .
And I did not solicit any of these people . The older lady that tried to get our home, Spent over 8 yrs to set me up
During that time was approached by various extended family members of hers that were either ex-cons or even one turned out to be a murderer . Because of their proximity to my home they would watch, my home to see when my car was here or not , been burglarized 3x and vandalized almost weekly inthe 13 yrs after introducing themselves to me , saying they would help around the property , Using the excuse to figure out what was not nailed down,or sell for scrap or pawn. all during the time, I was suppose to be her friend.
Even stealing all the identity papers ,I had . husbands death certificate my marriage certificate. My passport deed to this property copies of last will and testament .Took ten years before , I was informed by her granddaughter of these people’s relation to the older woman, whom professed great Christian faith.

all the while the older lady .
Is befriending me. Very one sided as long as I did all the giving . But after 1 yr here am widowed so I guess,I was a prime target . Eventually she told me of things she did to people she did not like, calling IRS on them ,Phoney police reports ,after I attempted to pull away from her , and all these things. Started happening to me. And after being away so long, had no friends left, so, I was eager to have a friend .And had just about no one in real life to confide in. So much for being trusting . Am Glad you have had no problems while you have lived in the Bible Belt .

I am so sorry. No one deserves to be treated the way you've been.

when i was in the south, i found people i knew strongly advising me to hide my natural self, tuck my hair up under my hat, when going out. i did not do that once and i was stared at. still like the 1950s down there.

It's strange because the south has some of the most innovative and high profile universities in the world. Produces some of the broadest and sharpest minds as well as some of the most backward,

There should be some warning sent out to the police if a random person purchases chemicals associated with suicides or covering up a murder.

I mean if a person buys tubs of hydrochloric acid, garbage bags and a chainsaw then that should also trigger concern.

Chainsaw? Worst idea ever.

-Makes noise, so unless you are in some isolated cottage in the woods, this can result in your neighbours telling the police about it when questioned, which will point them at you.

-Too bulky to quickly and safely dispose of, way too many moving and small parts with hard to reach places to efficiently clean it from blood and traces of DNA

-Would make a lot of mess, as flesh is softer than wood and pieces would be ripped off it, flying all over the room, sticking to walls and so on. And blood spraying everywhere. A lot of clean-up to do afterwards!

Seriously, if someone would want to go extra fancy, I guess surgical saw is the answer, but most convenient thing is hacksaw - cheap, easily found, buying it is not suspicious at all, a wide range of blades are available. Yup, takes more time than power tools, but at the same time, saves a lot of mess!

Before anyone asks, I simply worked at butchery and meat processing plant for a while. We've used butcher's meat and bone saws which are like oversized hacksaws. Using power tools on a dead animal is a bad idea, it is even dumber if it wasn't bled out first.

Off topic but this reminds me of a killer who gave ratings comments about murder items he got on Amazon. One of which was for a chainsaw.

Alittle off topic , unless one is going to try to terminate oneself with a chainsaw ? Might be a very last choice?

Not planning on it ,but carrying a small rechargeable one in your vehicle is a good idea.Someone tries to car jack you just whip it out and press a button.

I read that the preservative is about as carcinogenic as cigarettes, so I guess I'll just kill myself the slow and painful way.

Nah, there are much more efficient, less messy and painful ways to do so without disembowelling oneself with a chainsaw. I cannot imagine a situation in which it would be the very last choice, even a soda can ripped in half is a better option. I advise against suicide in general, no matter the method, though :)
