The statement misses the more important statistic: hospitalization.

Nearly ALL hospitalizations are from the UN-VACCINATED population.

Per my friends who are doctors; haven't checked the stats recently.

As restrictions ease, it could be said, we're giving a lot of anti-establishment people exactly what they claim they wanted: the freedom to get sick, be hospitalized, and end up dead. I'm vaccinated and boosted; I'm not the one likely to end up dead or with long COVID. But I'm tired of fighting people over it. If they don't care enough to protect themselves and others, to do what they can to reduce the spread, then why should I care what happens to them? The problem is, I still actually do. Urgh.

I stopped for a hot coffee at a gas station where these folks were congregating to wave flags and hope for car honks and stuff. They assumed since I was riding a motorcycle that I must have been there to honk and support them - lol; no. I got my coffee and stood and watched them for a bit, then once one of the super geniuses started flying a kite towards the power lines for FREEDOM!! !!1! I mentioned it to the 3 RCMP Constables sitting in their truck and they had a chuckle and asked why I had to tell them vs just let them find out what happens.. They got out of their truck to go talk to them and I snapped this photo of these not so bright folks and peaced out.

To be clear:
I had my booster shot yesterday.
No congratulations are desired.
It comes across as rather patronising. 8)

Truly a professional tier non sequitur. :nerdy:

You missed my point, obviously. ;)

I am saying that you need to listen to the message rather than embrace ad hominems. ;)

Attack the argument, not the person/people.

It is an unfortunate collection of deplorables, but as I said, try to comprehend the *message*. ;)

"Guilt by association" is invalid, a fallacy. 8O

Guilt by Association

Guilt by Association is another type of fallacy, which is an unsound argument based on poor reasoning. In guilt by association, someone decides they do not agree with or accept an argument because he/she doesn't like the person or people who have put forth the argument.

Generally, yes, in a debate: look at the argument, not the author. But when it comes to protests, the intent behind them can corrupt the message, IMHO. The message can become a cover for an agenda that is about something else entirely, and it would be foolish not to look and understand what that agenda is. With the trucker's protest, the intent seemed to be to spread disruption more than to get a message heard. That's just how it's played out to my distant eyes.

I'm a nurse DW, your friends are quite ill informed.

https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectiou ... 220214.pdf

That's a weekly report by the government epidemiologist of NSW. The latest edition as of today.

What you want is page 9 of 37 : Section 4: Clinical severity by vaccination status

The figures speak volumes.

Quote:
Hospitalised
3 doses 467
2 doses 5,962
1 dose 175
no doses 961

So of the people in hospital, the unvaccinated occupy 961 beds, the vaccinated 6,604

It's the exact opposite of what you wrote, the vast majority of people in hospital, are the vaccinated.

Those stats are because you, in Australia, have a 90% vaccination rate.

Different country, likely differing vaccines and protocols. Not all vaccines are created equal. I'm in the US. Trying to see if I can find the stats our local newspaper uses ...
