Lots of people on the internet rant about how they hate the whole human species, but we all need to accept that we are human. Our fate is tied to the fate of humanity as a whole.

I find value in individual people, but the collective humanity is a total s**tshow. I live in a remote part of the nation and whenever we get a flood of tourists, I find myself thinking about ecosystem engineers. These are species that play a large role in ecosystem function and processes.

The iconic one is the beaver. They create dams which results in more diverse habitats and species, the dams store and clean water.

Humans are ecosystem engineers, they create garbage dumps. The decrease species diversity and habitat heterogeneity.

They decrease the ability of the ecosystem to support life.

"Saving face" means your dignity is intact.

Both Trump and Kim were fighting like two schoolyard bullies.

It's possible that China thought it had to serve as the "adult" in this situation.

In many Asian cultures, it's considered very disrespectful to raise your voice at somebody.

H sapiens went through a fundamental change about 10,000-11,000 years ago. If this level of change was seen in any other species, it would result in a new publication (Academia joke), we would consider it a new species. The species went through another fundamental change about 300 years ago. Both of these changes were dramatic shifts in social organization, the equivalent of a solitary bee changing into a hive (eusocial) bee, changing into a termite.

For the last 11,000 years, they have done nothing but degrade ecosystems and the last 300 they have done it on a global scale.

I would like to publish a new species Homo stultus-quisquiliae, the stupid garbage people.
