Humans are ecosystem engineers, they create garbage dumps. The decrease species diversity and habitat heterogeneity.
They decrease the ability of the ecosystem to support life.

Our species - Home Sapiens Sapiens - has been around for 300,000 years.
How long have we been creating garbage dumps?
H sapiens went through a fundamental change about 10,000-11,000 years ago. If this level of change was seen in any other species, it would result in a new publication (Academia joke), we would consider it a new species. The species went through another fundamental change about 300 years ago. Both of these changes were dramatic shifts in social organization, the equivalent of a solitary bee changing into a hive (eusocial) bee, changing into a termite.
For the last 11,000 years, they have done nothing but degrade ecosystems and the last 300 they have done it on a global scale.
I would like to publish a new species
Homo stultus-quisquiliae, the stupid garbage people.
