Right wingers are against things until it affects them or benefits them, then all of a sudden it's all okay.

Where did you get that idea? I was driving through Southeast Kentucky in October 2020, when I came upon one of the "Trump trains." They were holding up traffic like you wouldn't believe. I had to wait twice as long to get through an intersection until they had all cleared.

There's always heavy truck traffic to and from Ottawa / Montreal.
That's our trucking route.
There were no disruptions at all. I was on the highway.
In Ottawa they closed some streets for the protest.
I'm pretty sure that's no different than it was in Chaz.
At least this is peaceful and it's right at Parliament Hill.
And it's a weekend.
And it's the banking district / not residential.

That does seem to be the case, and also they where the ones who started the whole 'speicial snowflake' thing yet it seems like they don't like it very much when their feelings get hurt and act like its oppression when just a couple years ago they where the ones wearing T-shirts that said f**k your feelings...I guess they don't like it when they get their own feelings hurt but don't care if they hurt other people's feelings.

Just clarifying.

Are you guys saying that American left-wingers believe people can only protest if they're also left-wingers?

This issue in Ottawa has nothing to do with left-right wing, but I'm curious what you're all saying.

Many of them actually do believe that, but they won't come right out and say it, instead they'll snipe and snark and make endless excuses about how it's different when they do it, etc, as we're seeing in this thread. Remember, if you're protesting against the lockdowns, you're a science denying moron who wants to kill grandma and will probably get covid and die, but if you are protesting against racism, then you have special political immunity from the virus, plus a free pass for all the property destruction you care to commit, as those greedy business owners all have insurance anyway, in addition to a huge bail fund in case some right wing cop actually arrests you.

Left wingers might snark and be insulting towards their opponents due to the causes they protest in favour of, but that isn't in any way denying them their right to protest.

Well, it also makes more sense to protest against racism, than it does to protest against mask wearing and vaccines to combat the pandemic that people can die from.

I was being sarcastic, lol...it is quite clear they only disagree with protests that block traffic unless it is one of their own protests.

People do realise Trudeau is the biggest racist in this story, right? Not the truckers or the citizens?

(Incidentally, a majority of our truckers are new immigrants and refugees).

According to Evan Balgord, executive director of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network it's the organisers that are suspect.

Nah, it goes beyond that, particularly in the lockdown era, but my point was that they believe right wing protests to be illegitimate, not that they're actually out there trying to prevent them from protesting or demonstrating. Of course, some of them actually are doing that as well, that's what black bloc / antifa is all about after all, shutting down speech they think is illegitimate, often violently.

I’ve only gone through a sampling of the posts and videos, and let’s forget for a moment about some of the factual errors in some of the videos, what my personal beliefs on the issue under protest might be, the way that all protests draw in nefarious elements, and anything else that I could argue about and find problematic. The truth is, I get a lot of joy out of watching a creative protest in action. Of seeing people peacefully coming together with volume and making their voices heard. This stuff is the heart of a functioning Democracy.

I celebrate their efforts.

I don’t care that it isn’t for an issue I’d be fighting for.

Their voices matter, too, and they are using a viable means to get heard.

I'm just saying that right wingers will rant and whine about the left protesting and blocking traffic and stuff but yet they will do the exact same thing which makes them look like hypocrites.
