I heard about this on the news on saturday, pretty sick to run over a child for no real reason, other than hate of coarse. What posses some people to be so cruel?
Any post about racist behaviour from whites in America is immediately hijacked by a certain poster who feels the need to insist any condemnation or discussion of racism is an attack on all whites, all conservatives and Donald Trump personally. Until he gets over it, expect these threads to end up off topic.
Oh please. The opening line in this post made it clear it's all about trump and the victim is just being used as a prop. Some ol same ol day in day out. Am I being a thorn in the in side? Good. Gives you a taste of what annoying feels like.
You don't annoy me. I feel empathy when you express that these discussions make you wound up; but since posters are entitled to have these discussions the only advice I can recommend it for you to cease participating if they're harming you in some way. Ultimately I don't mind your participation since you will eventually learn something even if it takes years to wear down your knee-jerk reactions to people discussing matters you don't approve of being discussed.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.
Yeah, it is about trump and his administration. They are racist and they’ve taken to the airwaves (and the courts etc) to make it known. trump himself, Steve Brannon, and especially Steven Miller. It is literally impossible to deny that these men are racists who spout racist rhetoric (and enact it into immigration law) that gets people all riled up and feeling emboldened to commit acts of aggression or violence in the name of said racism.
How can anyone possibly deny that trump going on TV/social media and spouting off anti-Mexican rhetoric thousands upon thousands of times hasn’t had a negative impact on the collective minds of his supporters? The evidence is in the uptick of hate crimes.
And it is about racism and not about illegal immigrants. If it were about illegal immigrants then FLOTUS Melania would be deported for having entered the USA as an illegal immigrant with an invalid visa. But, she’s white so there’s nothing to see there.
Does an autism forum really have to be told day after day about Trump?
There have been 8957239858235785 anti-trump posts. Don't you think everyone here has gotten it by now? Is this supposed to go on here on a daily basis as long as he's in office? Why are you 5 taking it out on Wrong Planet? This isn't MAGA headquarters you know. You 5 are just bombarding the remaining handful people here with anti-trumpism on a daily basis. Why don't you 5 give the rest of us a f*****g break for f**k sake?
No one obliges you to click on threads that upset you. Clearly throwing a tantrum isn't making the threads critical of Trump and his supporters go away. Why let it bother you if you clearly get so worked up over it? Why play the game when you already know the only prize you've ever won is frustration?
It's an autism forum, meaning some of the posters are prone to rambling in circles about the things they view as important. If you don't wish to participate in those endless rambles, don't.
Do you 5 really have to keep spamming about trump on a daily basis? You are clearly the ones who are in a perpetual state of being upset, but why constantly unleash your frustrations on Wrong Planet? It's like I'm asking junkies to cut back on their smack.
It’s because he is absolutely vile that people want to express in writing that they do not like or condone his conduct. Ignoring him isn’t enough - it gives him a pass. He needs to be discussed for what he is - a despicable human being. There’s no sense in good people shutting up about how awful he is. The exact opposite should happen, really. More and more people should speak up against him, countering the negativity he tries to solicit from his base.
That's a noble cause, but why Wrong Planet on a daily basis? It's not upsetting to me, it's just annoying like a neighbor's little dog that barks a lot.

I've never started a thread about these issues and I'm generally a late-comer to the threads where these discussions are occurring. Clearly it's more of an obsession for you than I, because you're usually* already well-entrenched in these threads before I've even contributed.
Because this is where we are. Should we feel obliged to leave to discuss these matters?
* but not always

It's not really an issue of what's anoying or not, bash Trump all day I could care less but do it in PPR,this forum is for discussion of the news. And I made some good news posts that nobody is responding too, bash Trump to kingdom come but do it in PPR.

I am starting to see a pattern that news and current events is the place to argue when PPR gets quiet.

Your projecting about being obsessive and upset is quite trite.
So this obscure sparsely populated autism forum is the only outlet you 5 have to kvetch about trump out of the entire internet?

It's the only forum I participate in; why wouldn't I occasionally comment on these threads when they're of interest?
Why do you post on every single one of these just to complain that you don't like the discussion?

I'm trying to discuss the news, the political matters are inherently tied to the news.
You guys are having a lovely meta-discussion that I find interesting enough to also comment on, but I'd be happy to get back to discussion of the story or how it ties into a broader pattern that's been emerging for the past few years.

Yep, funeralxempire said.
I suspect that EzraS complaints in this thread have little to do with the topic or discussion and plenty to do with his bias against the op. I think it still upsets him that I managed to figure out what causes Autism and how to treat it w/o credentials, so he just finds any reason to complain/derail my threads. Oh well.

I don't feel "hatred of Trump" inspired this thread.
I feel like racist crap like that----whether related to Trump or not related to Trump----should be bought out.
A girl was hit by a car by a woman because the woman thought she was Mexican. How would somebody feel if, say, they were wearing a yamulke (a Jewish headcovering), and somebody decided to hit you with a car because you are Jewish?
This sort of thing should NOT be occurring in (almost) 2020 America---or anywhere. It would be more "understandable, based upon the context of the times," if this had occurred in 1955.
This is bullcrap that occurred in the Jim Crow days and previous to them---to many different ethnic and racial groups.
We have to publicize this stuff. I don't think Trump should necessarily be emphasized, though. I feel like the historic racism should be more emphasized.
This is "news," so it's open to discussion in the "News" forum. If we are not given free rein to discuss this, we would go down the rabbit hole towards fascism.
WE CANNOT HAVE THIS SORT OF THING. THIS SORT OF THING HAS TO BE BOUGHT OUT.

Humanity is always and since as far back as we can tell, has separated "us" from "them." I suppose it served an evolutionary purpose at one time.
I doubt that racism has increased, but I do think the expression of racism is more frequent and also the new coverage is more extensive. Ten years ago, we did not get news like this splashed all over the internet. Fifty years ago, no one would have covered it.

It's true that they wouldn't have covered "run of the mill" racist occurrences like what happened in Howard Beach, NY. In Howard Beach, a black man was chased onto a highway by a white mob. On the highway, he was hit by at least two cars, and died.
It occurred in 1986; had it occurred in 1966, Howard Beach would have just been considered a case where a black man wandered into the "wrong area." If he was killed, it was his fault. And that would have been the end of it.
The reason why the media covered Howard Beach so extensively was because of Al Sharpton (not a man I like----but he's an effective man at times). Also, in 1986, things were much better on the human rights front in the US than they were in 1966.

Sure, it’s about a girl who got hit by a car in an absurd hate crime.. but I did bring up trump in the op because he’s spent the last 4+ years at his bully pulpit bad mouthing Mexico & Mexicans in order to get his base all wound up - and IMO, that’s relevant to this incident having occurred at all.
