6 attendees of SCOTUS nomination at Rose Garden test positive for COVID-19

Quote:
Less than a week ago, several top White House officials mingled with guests in the Rose Garden as President Donald Trump officially nominated Amy Coney Barrett to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.

Many of those guests were seen not wearing masks, fist bumping and greeting one another in close proximity, and their seats didn't appear to be 6 feet apart.

On Friday, Utah Sen. Mike Lee, also at the Rose Garden, announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 after experiencing "symptoms consistent with longtime allergies."

University of Notre Dame President Rev. John Jenkins was also at the Rose Garden event and also announced Friday he had tested positive for the virus.

North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis, who also was at the Rose Garden, announced Friday night that he, too, had tested positive for COVID-19.

On Friday night, Kellyanne Conway, who served as counselor to the president until earlier this year, and who was a regular spokesperson for the White House, announced on Twitter she had tested positive. Conway, 53, said she is experiencing mild symptoms.

"Tonight I tested positive for COVID-19. My symptoms are mild (light cough) and I’m feeling fine," she wrote. "I have begun a quarantine process in consultation with physicians."

Conway was sitting in the front row at the Rose Garden announcement and was seen mingling with guests and other White House officials while not wearing a mask.

Attorney General William Barr also was at the event and seen without a mask, but a Department of Justice spokesperson said he tested negative on Friday.

I hope he recovers, is humbled, then loses the election.

in the movie "bullitt" the detectives hid a death from prying eyes over a weekend. i suspect that his death won't be hide-able for that long. he has too many eyes on him.

Yes like President Kim in North Korea. He could well be dead but photoshop and body doubles can make all the difference.

I don't want him to die, not so much because I care about him so much as I care about the absolute chaos that would follow if he did.

It would effectively become Pence v Biden and Pence has less baggage than Biden, and would draw in more right-leaning moderates who have enough sense not to vote for Trump.
...unless Pence also dies too. Then we end up with president Pelosi, because this year wasn't bizarre enough already. What would the GOP even do in this case? One month is not enough time to scramble together another candidate. They don't really have the deepest bench and who knows how long it would take for them to even agree on a candidate. And if the ticket splits at all then Biden wins. And I can't imagine the republican base taking that very well on top of everything else.
If Trump and Biden both die then it just becomes Pence v Harris and I honestly don't like Harris's odds in that scenario.

It's yet another wrench in the works. The senselessness of it all.

I’m not surprised, he never wore a mask, he’s just STUPID. I really hope he will lose the election. He doing soooooo worse in America, he took away ALOT of benefits for seniors, disabled people, cut funding, he was pushing for the schools to open. Why he hate people?

Maybe he shouldn't have been such an anti-masker....turns out that has consequences. Also he already shot his chance at representing the disabled community, most of them don't like him either at least that is what a lot of homeless veterans say. They have to pander to the public to get enough money to help disabled veterens, is't that f****d up that the welfare of people who fought and risked their lives for this country can barely afford medical bills or cant afford themselves a place to live after their sacrifice and have to rely on kind people on the street that will give them a couple dollars at a time? What kind of service is that to our veterans, they shouldn't be on the street after what they risked, its messed up as hell.

I’ve fallen asleep in some funny places. I’m a very healthy person. Falling asleep after a rally does not a serious condition make.

Basically, if Trump doesn’t have pneumonia, he’s not in serious condition.

Trump campaign manager tests positive for Covid-19

Quote:
Donald Trump’s campaign manager has tested positive for Covid-19, dealing another blow to his reelection effort on a day that saw the president and the head of the Republican National Committee report contracting the disease as well.

Bill Stepien received his diagnosis Friday evening and was experiencing what one senior campaign official described as “mild flu-like symptoms.” People familiar with the situation said the 42-year-old Stepien plans to quarantine until he recovers.

Deputy Campaign Manager Justin Clark is expected to oversee the Trump team’s Arlington, Va. headquarters while Stepien works remotely, though advisers stressed that he would maintain control of the campaign.

Stepien’s disclosure means the two heads of the president’s political apparatus have now contracted the coronavirus: RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced earlier Friday that she, too, is infected.
