Climate talks fail

Fun fact: In many areas of the US there are more trees now than 300 years ago- mostly do to reforestation efforts carried out by logging companies.
Timber companies generally understand that forests are a renewable resource that can provide greater benefits to all involved if/when they are properly managed.
Unfortunately, beginning in the late 1970s, science based conservationism began to be replaced with the emotional rhetoric of enviromentalism as a matter of public policy. In the early 1990s, the Clinton administration effectively eliminated conservation efforts altogether by placing a moratorium on most logging within national forests. One of the consequences of this policy has been the increased incidence of massive wildfires due to such basic practices as tree thinning and removal of understory fuels being curtailed- or even outright prohibited. Now, instead of a few temporarily unsightly clear cuts scattered around in the forest, entire forests are burning to the ground.
But muh global warming. Ya,that's the ticket.

I have a pet *hate* about some of the Green's environmental policies.
Not managing undergrowth to control the severity of bushfires, when they do occur, is one of the major ones.
The ignorance of the consequences of "Lah Lah Land" thinking ignites my anger, particularly now that Australia is suffering so badly with bushfires.
I am not a militant person.
I generally embrace a non-interference policy in regards to primitive, regressive social politics, but my tolerance is reaching a breaking point.

Not that it matters but India's CO2 emmisions are a fraction of the US

The protesters are going for the soft targets where they know the risk to them is minimal.
Protesting in China could literally mean torture and death.

That's my point, if Extinction rebellion set foot in China then the Chinese security forces would just arrest them and incarcerate them.

Not a fraction,
Half,
(Yes, I know half is a fraction, but your comment was obviously misleading.
But you got me on that one.

India is the fourth highest emitter of carbon dioxide in the world, accounting for 7 per cent of global emissions in 2017, a study said on Wednesday.
The top four emitters in 2017, which covered 58 per cent of global emissions, were China (27 per cent), the US (15 per cent), the European Union (10 per cent) and India (7 per cent), according to the projection by the Global Carbon Project. The rest of the world contributed 41 per cent last year, it said. https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/ne ... 677626.ece

If we were *literally* going to die in 12 years time due to an extinction event,
We would go for the worst offenders.
To use an analogy:
If we fell through a plate glass doorway,
Would we first put a bandaid on our scraped knee "boo boo",
Or tourniquet the severed artery?
The first thing that should be done is to take away China's "developing nation" status, which allows them leniency in regards to plant food emissions,
If you believe the hysteria.
The rationale behind left-wing man-made-climate politics is in a state irrationality.
Virtue-signalling will *not* save the planet,
No matter how hard one wrings one's hands and sheds "puppy-dog" tears in anguish.
Reason, not emotionalism, is the panacea.
Well, maybe not completely,
But you know what I mean.

China is a nuclear power....end of story...next idea
You haven't made yourself very clear.
If you are suggesting we can't force them to do anything because they will nuke the shite out of anyone who tries, then your position is amusing.
If we are on the same page, your saying:
Give up trying the save the planet.
Just make everyone else's lives miserable through a pointless gesture so we can *feel* good when the reaper visits us.
I like your audacious panache.

Mmm. If the planet really is at death's door, surely we should get rid of the whole developing nation opt-out entirely. Say sorry, but you can't build yourselves up using coal.

Not many of the those who protest for the environment are willing to be martyrs

Don't be ridiculous.
What has destroying the world got anything to do with developing nations destroying the world?
They are "special" and don't have to follower the survival rules.
What a stupid notion. <bwahahahaha>
Far left-wing politics has alternative facts and an alternative imperitive logical reasoning system.
They tap into "Quantum Mechanics" to access alternate dimensions, I believe.

What are you talking about?
Extinction Rebellion protesters could get a boo boo when their super-glued hands are removed from the road surfaces.
Morrison government must be proud they have sanctioned the use of extreme force on little children holding placards

Where is the "extreme force" in the picture you provided?
Seriously, moit,
Your credibility coinage isn't great. <sigh>

I've pointed that out innumerable times. Now I just ignore him for the most part.
I like the guy,
He just isn't very logical in his thinking.
Another confirmation/indication that those of the left *tend* to think with their heart rather than their head.
What can you do? <shrug>
