I guess censorship is now a convenient substitute for discourse.

This is why we should not rely too much on technology. Technology, which originally empowered citizens, might now hold them back. Technology plays an ever increasing role and becomes more potent, so leaders must not abuse it, or it will become increasingly impossible to get rid of the trenches dug in by those in power.

China and Russia are totally right. Information is a weapon. Its THE weapon. Thats why its so important we keep the internet free of their influence. Freedom of information keeps governments accountable. Keeps corporations accountable. Freedom of information is how we know when to revolt. Of course repressive governments don't want it.
