Over diagnosing bipolar for drug company pushers

Anyway, the doctor dignosed my mother with bipolar before she could sit down upon the first time he met her.

The article is about doctors getting more money from insurance companies via drug companies for bipolar diagnosis and it has caused a crazy increase in diagnosing ppl with bipolar who are not.

That's pretty rediculous. Yet another way to become disillusioned by the unrestrained greed of our society. There is so much shady business in this industry. Clinical trials can easily be manipulated to show any desired result. Incentives turn doctors into pill-pushers.
I must admit that I wish this was going on when I was a child because my mother is bipolar and wasnt diagnosed until a few years ago. It may have made for a slightly smoother childhood.

Having a parent who has the power of authority while being unstable is very frighening experience. I been there with my father.
Of course with truly bipolar parents, you never know if you will get hugged or slugged.

And yes the blatent greed in this buisness is really sickening...if it was not for my OCD, I would not see a psychatrist...matter of fact, I get to see the wizard of OZ tomorrow...35 miles away, in the blinding snowstorm to be told that I am bipolar...I am not...I have OCD which causes me to have mood swings alittle cause when I am not having OCD symtoms, I am happy, but when I am being assulted by a slew of intrusive thoughts...I am nervous and miserable. That is only cause and effect.

Well my mother is definitely bipolar II. I am undoubtedly unipolar but I bet I could be diagnosed as bipolar just by the effect a cup of coffee has on me.
When you go to the Land of Oz remember that you are in the driver's seat. Doctors can only diagnose you based on what you tell them. So use those ruby slippers. Oh wait the snow...
Anyway, are you anti-meds? I find they limit my intrusive thoughts enough so that I can get on with my life.
