Bush's Job Approval Rating now Better than Obama's

George W. Bush’s job approval rating as president has spiked to 47 percent, according to a Gallup poll released Monday.

That’s 1 point higher than President Barack Obama’s job approval rating in a poll taken the same week.

Granted it is in the margin of error, but quite frankly it looks like history will judge President George W. Bush rather kindly.

Only in America...

What is his job? Sitting at home and not making any decisions that affect other people? I do have to say I approve of his doing that very much.

Wait, why are we polling about presidents that aren't even in office anymore?

Because people easily and quickly forget past transgressions and it makes for a dramatic headline.

47 percent is "kindly"?

George Bush's lowest approval rating was 19 percent. Obama still has a ways to go if he's going to top that.

Wait till Obama is done with his term and then compare ratings. Otherwise this is a pointless comparision.

A perfect example of how people have very short memories. He admitted that he lied about the WMDs (among other lies) and now people don't even remember those lies.

As the old saying goes, people see the past as better than it was, the present as worse than it is, and the future as better than it's going to be.

If you want my theory, people remember Bush as poking fun at himself, his humor, etc. They may have had questions about his policies, but never his motives. He also never called fellow Americans the enemy. People have seen him go out of his way to greet troops as they come home without press or fanfare. He has been extremely civil to a guy that blames him for about everything, it is no wonder people are starting to remember him fondly.

Having Obama in office is probably the best thing that could of happened to Bush's legacy. Obama's incompetence will make Bush look better in retrospect.

I'm thinking that whoever wins the next presidential election will be viewed in a very good light. By the end of that term (2016) the economy will have fully recovered. If Obama wins in 2012 and Iraq and Afghanistan don't fall into chaos by then, he will be praised more than Bush. If he loses the election, Obama will have a horrible approval rating.

They both suck.

Well something came out from wikileaks that will boost Bush's approval rating even more. Turns out we did find 550 tons of Uranium in Iraq, Uranium that Saddam supposedly didn't have. Either Bush sat on this while it was being smuggled out of a warzone to Canada, or someone didn't inform him about it, but either way Uranium is a key component for a nuclear warhead. It may not have been at the level of weapons grade, but it could have been used as a dirty bomb or refined when the heat was off. Further Saddam had been trying to acquire more Uranium.

So much for the argument of Bush lieing about Saddam trying to get nuclear weapons. Fact is he could have blabbed about it in 2004, and jeopardized an operation to get the radioactive material out of Iraq and potentially won in a landslide. He either didn't know about it or refused to release the information which could have potentially cost him the election. I'm not surprised that most media outlets are belittling this information.
