Bad. Very, very bad. We need the alternative vote system. We really do. I love this country. If I wanted to live in a far right social Darwinist paradise I'd head down south. At least Quebec shifted to the NDP. And the Bloc is pretty well gone, which is music to my ears

I rather like Canada, but i dislike the direction it's heading. And the situation in France isn't so much better.... Ugh, why can't i have some passport to a good place? =.=

In a Conservative - NDP world, the center usually breaks right. Either the Liberal Party has to regain some of its former appeal; the NDP has to morph into the Liberal Party of old and shed itself of its links to organized labour; or the Conservatives will become the natural governing party of Canada.

I know where my preference lies.

Isn't it ironic that the original Conservative party (used by John A. MacDonald) was called the Liberal-Conservative party? I believe that party is long gone.

It's funny - in Canadian politics, I would be nearest the Conservatives. But their attitude to liberty would probably put me off so I wouldn't vote.

I was thinking more in terms of the way Harper is pushing our country in little barely noticeable increments to be more and more like the US. I haven't read too much into his immigration policies as I don't really care all that much at this point. I've got bigger fish to fry here in Quebec, but maybe things will change for us here with the Bloc's ouster. I don't hear too much anti-immigration rhetoric around here, more like 'get the f**k out, Anglos' in subtle ways (so... pro emigration? :lol:

)
