Tiananmen Cables

The square was cleared by riot police with riot gear and not with automatic gunfire.

No bloodshed in Tiananmen Square cables claim

"He watched the military enter the square and did not observe any mass firing of weapons into the crowds, although sporadic gunfire was heard. He said that most of the troops which entered the square were actually armed only with anti-riot gear – truncheons and wooden clubs; they were backed up by armed soldiers," a cable from July 1989 said.

And other accounts by people who were their claimed gunfire.

Why should I believe your source.

Because what they call the Tinanmen Square Massacre did not happen in Tiananmen Square, just as what they call the Srebrenica Massacre did not happen in Srebrenica.

For Tiananmen Square the death estimates are and were all over the map.

... and I suppose the attacks on September 11, 2001 were staged as well...

There is no footage of people being killed in Tiananmen Square, just as there is no footage of people being killed in Srebrenica. The claims of such are based only on the fact that these were adopted as truth very quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if we learned that most of what happened in Libya recently was a lie though this will come up after it has been conquered and the puppets successfully installed in power. Some may say, "oops, we did it again! When will we ever learn. Oh, well!"

What exactly is your point? Did the body count change? Srbrenica happened in the area around it, not just the town. I found a War Tribunal paper on Krstic and it looks like you are lying about Mladic's involvement. Which is not surprising since you tried to say the column almost broke the Serbs and tried to gain pity for them.

However there were reports of killings in Tianemen Square placed on the internet immediately. The Chinese government could not shut down the net completely and some news got out.

The shootings described as the Srebrenica Massacre all took place around another town called Zvornik which was significantly to the north of Srebrenica. Mladic was concentrating on Zepa which was to Srebrenica's south. One of the UNPROFOR commanders General Morillon did say it was his opinion that Mladic knew nothing of the shootings.

It was at the Krstic trial that the information about the column's threat to Zvornik and that whole area of the RS was known, this was based on intercepted transmissions of VRS communications. This was a column supported by an ABiH attack from Tuzla. You do know that the column's head actually made it to Tuzla.

As for Tiananmen Square, barricades were set up all over the city. They tried to keep the tanks and troops from moving and that's when people were killed. They didn't mow the people in the square down with gunfire as is suggested by the name Tiananmen Square Massacre.

About the Srebrenica body count - the bulk of the figure they use remain people listed as missing and not confirmed dead. There's also the question of the circumstances of their deaths. The information suggests that prisoners of war were shot for some reason or another. Why this happened is not known, really. Often prisoners of war are shot because it's difficult to hold them. Henry V did this at Agincourt. Rumsfeld at one point said that his people would not take prisoners and then their Uzbek allies killed several hundred prisoners following the battle of Kuduz. This is nothing new. But anyway, the whole point here is to say that the shootings were nowhere near the town which is why I don't understand the Dutch going on about how people they protected were killed. Well, the people who were killed were people who fled the town in the column. Were the Dutch supposed to join them and be part of the column too?

Well, there goes wikileaks' and telegraph's credibility.

I'm sorry, but it sounds to me like the Serbs were never in the town according to you. It that correct?

So wait, you're beef with the "Tiananmen Square Massacre", isn't that people were or were not killed, but that their deaths occured "outside" the square? Am I understanding that correctly?

If so, then do you have a thing about events being labeled for Convenient Geological Markers? If not, are you suggesting that there were no Deaths?

Further, if you read the websites, they mention that this information is coming from a "Chilean Diplomat"..... And this is info that Wikileaks has decided to release exclusively to "The Telegraph"? I thought wikileaks did all of its own information releases, and that part of its goal was broad dissemination? Please correct me if Im wrong on these 2 points..... Either way, I think Ill take the word of dozens of protesters that were there over a random "Chilean Diplomat" any day. I mean, If hes in China at the time of the massacre, hes there either for himself, or his government, all of which is in self interest, so what good is it gonna do him to be accurate, particularly in Cable Traffic not meant for Public eyes anyway..... Top that all off that we have ZERO context beyond that, I have a hard time swallowing that, 21 years after the event occured, that the chinese were any less nasty to their own citizens then then they are now....... Not that they're committing massacres anymore..... But I dont really see why we should care?

Even IF this is a genuine Wikileaks cable release, wikileaks isn't responsible for the accuracy in what they're leaking, their whole point is to leak secret documents.... I dont see these cables as being anything beyond a *Possibly* in/accurate account of an event, that does little beyond prove that Wikileaks really does intend to release whatever they find, regardless of content. It could even be a Hoax planned by some intelligence agency to discredit them anyway.....
