People need services like adult day care where they can get a break,if she had some time to herself maybe this wouldn't have happened.Everyone needs time off,especially Moms.How tragic.You have to be pretty desperate to kill your child.I wonder if she had any access to mental health services,just being in a group of other parents with special needs children could have helped her and gave her a support system.

Shouldn't happen. The guy was only 22. At least he was in bed, hopefully asleep.

what I don't understand is why she didn't just kill herself. why murder as well?

In the one I posted, she thought it was a mercy killing and then attempted suicide herself. In this case I'm not sure if she really should have stood trial and it might have been better to commit her to a state hospital.

'suppose it's sort of a rhetorical question; but what I don't understand is how someone (especially having kids myself) comes to the decision to take their child's life. There are no justifications for murder, nor for a rational of "mercy" killing. Plus, one can simply kill oneself and no longer have any awareness of the child or anything else. Could it come down to going completely over the edge and not having any rationality left? I also wonder why the respective husbands didn't sense something a bit wrong, and take action to get the family some help.

Worried about his future. She'd be thinking she was the only one who cares for him, and that once she was gone that her boy would just be left to rot in some dreary setting, (perhaps even abused) with no joy or fulfilment until finally dieing old and alone. Years of that kind of thinking and worrying would have led to her to this, wherein it would seem a 'solution' same as suicide seems a to be a solution.
