Internet Predator Shows Up for Sexual Encounter with His Children in the Car

A man is arrested for arranging a sexual encounter with an underage girl he met on the Internet. But what's even more disturbing about this case is who that man had with him when he was arrested.

New information tonight and a plea from police for help in their investigation. Twenty-seven-year-old Bryan Daniel King is still in jail waiting for his court date on charges he enticed a minor using the internet. That minor turned out to be an investigator with Utah's internet crimes against children taskforce and that's just the first surprise.

One look at Lt. Rhett McQuistan and no way would you mistake him for a girl unless you were talking to him in a chat room.

In cyberspace, McQuistan plays an underage girl hunting for the types of guys you hope your children never meet for real.

A few weeks ago, his 14-year old character, met this man--27-year old Bryan Daniel King of Magna and you can probably imagine what happened next.

Lt. Rhett McQuiston: "It was very quick. The first contact with the individual, he did indicate sexual activity that he wanted to engage in with the underage child."

Investigators with Utah's internet crime against children taskforce set the trap and arrested King at the place where he thought he was meeting that 14-year old girl.

He was surprised, but maybe not as surprised as investigators, when they found his two children just one and four-years-old in the backseat of his car.

Lt. Rhett McQuiston: "He indicated that due to his wife being at work, that his children were too young to leave at home alone."

Even more disturbing is what King said later. According to court documents, Kind told investigators he has chatted with other underage females, but couldn't recall their names or screen names and that two years ago at the Gateway Mall, he met a female who was about 15 years old, and they engaged in sexual intercourse on two occasions.

Capt. Chris Ahearn, Utah Internet Crimes Against Children: "I think it undermines how driven some of these people are when they're in the process of being a child predator."

Because of that conversation, police want parents to take a look at their children's' chat room buddy list. King used the screen names "sooner_freak_623" and "Darby_623." His name could also be listed under Daniel King.

His two children are now in the custody of his wife, who said she met King on the Internet when she was just 16.

They actually participate on Pervert night on Dateline NBC. There have been some scary people who show up for dates with the perverted justice volunteers. Well, actually they are very physically immature looking actors and actresses who are at the house that Dateline rents - they didnt' actually do the chat tho they know what the chat was about more or less.

Some of them are pretty sick but funny - like the guy who walked into the house naked, the other guy who brought whipped cream to put on the cat's privates and lick it off, a rabbi who works in youth outreach (no Catholic priests tho that I have seen), and a guy who had a kid waiting in the car while he went to do his thing.

One guy was downright scary - he was a truck driver and he brought with him some duct tape and rope.

Anyway, pedophile night on Dateline is always good for a laugh since the perverts have no idea what they have coming once they get to the house.

I think this guy's a creep, obviously, but I have to point out that technically, he is NOT a pedophile. A pedophile is attracted to pre-pubescent children. This man is attracted to adolescent girls, which is frowned upon in our society because they are under our legal age of consent. But I wish people would quit making out that attraction to adolescent girls is somehow intrinsically perverted or evil; it's about as normal and natural as you can get, as evidenced plainly by the vast majority of traditional, non-industrialized cultures around the world and throughout history. It's just nature. But, of course, as an adult in our country, he has an obligation to overcome his attraction and certainly not act on it. Now he's paying the price. But please, don't call these men "pedophiles", it's insulting to the victims of true pedophiles - innocent little children.

Makes me glad I didn't try to hook-up with any Girls younger than me when I was 18 or 19.


I don't give a damn what anyone says. An 18-year old having sex with a 17-year old (as long as both parties mutually agree with it) is NOT wrong!

when dealing with young adults of those 2 particular ages, and the differences, 18 and 17 are just numbers. that ONE year makes little to no difference.

Pretty sure the legal age for consent in Hawaii is 14 years old.

To clarify - this article said that the guy was 27 and thought the girl was 14.

I do agree with you tho. In fact, I've heard that Utah law addresses such situations because there are so many young couples here (Mormons push people to marry young). The law gets really snarled and confusing when dealing with 16 and 17 year old girls in particular, since it's not abnormal for them to get involved with 18-year old guys (nor is it abnormal for the 18-year-old guy to get involved with the girl), but it gets into some provisions about incest and positions of trust. It's pretty convoluted, but it makes sense to account for all of these possibilities.

How about the news article regarding that guy pretending to be a teen, and wanting to enroll in a High School. He was supposedly trolling for boys for a couple of older pedaphiles ??

I actually almost did that once.

I had a stalker. To make a very long story short, some of the Mormon girls living in my building got worried about the situation, and decided to have a women's self-defense class at their church. I was invited - it was a really very nice gesture on their part with no strings attached as far as prosletyzing. Anyway, a couple of days later this guy was waiting for me outside my work (at that time, a supermarket) when I got off at like 11PM or midnight or something. I started to walk away from him and he grabbed my arm, at which point I knocked him to the ground and threatened to kill him. I came to find out he was on parole, so the parole officer made it a parole violation for him to be within like 1,000 feet of me. That seemed to solve the problem.

I wouldn't have a problem doing that again, tho I don't know that I'd be able to actually kill anyone when blinding or breaking limbs are other viable options. I do also keep mace on my belt clip when I go on long bike rides by myself.

I still think castration should be the punishment of choice for sexual predators. If you ask me (and nobody did, haha), human rights shouldn't apply to criminals, as they pretty much violated the very human rights of their victims. That especially goes for victims of sexual predators, who are severely traumatized by these events and it may take them years before they can go back to living a life they lived before being preyed upon by these sexual predators.

I probably sound barbaric in what I think the solution/punishment for sexual predators should be, but I think it's justified, seeing as I have a cousin who was raped at 14 and a second cousin who was raped at 5. They're better now, more or less, but it took them a long time to overcome the pain and trauma they had to endure. >_<;
