Apparently, Kirby Delauter does not like his name mentioned in the media without his permission. Kirby Delauter is a Republican councilman of Frederick County, Maryland. Kirby Delauter is also a general contractor.

"Use my name again unauthorized and you'll be paying for an attorney", Kirby Delauter told a Frederick News-Post reporter in a Facebook post.

I first read about Kirby Delauter in an NPR article that details how Kirby Delauter threatened a lawsuit against a journalist who mentioned Kirby Delauter's name in an article on Kirby Delauter, who had objected to a recent story that said Kirby Delauter shared another councilman's concern about a shortage of reserved parking spaces for councilmembers at the county office building.

(Sorry, linking to the NPR article on Kirby Delauter does not seem to be working for me right now.)

This isn't the first time Kirby Delauter's quick temper and belligerent style have brought Kirby Delauter unflattering attention during his four years as a county official. Kirby Delauter once stormed out of a board meeting in 2012 after telling a county staff member, "I'm not going to sit here and be talked to like some punk because I'm asking questions". It was reported last year that Kirby Delauter called another board member a "moron" for disagreeing with him on an issue.

What do you think of people like Kirby Delauter?

Maybe he should copyright his name and collect royalties when it's used.

Correction: "Maybe Kirby Delauter should copyright Kirby Delauter's name and collect royalties when Kirby Delauter's name is used."

Kirby Delauter.

I just learned of a guy named Kirby Delauter.

And ever since that day I have known how beautiful a name can be...eeeeeee.

Kirby Delauter...

Say it LOUD,

and there is music playing....

Say it softly,

and it feels like... praying...

I'll never- grow tired- of hearing- Kirby Delauterrrrrrr.

The most beautiful sound I have ever heard...

Kirby Delauterrrrrrr..... :D

Regular folks do get protection from the law about privacy. But public figures get less protection. If you strive to get into the public eye via being a Hollywood actor, a rock star, or getting elected to even local government office, you're considered a public figure. So your name is fair game to be used in the media. Since he serves on a city council the media has a right to use his name. And duty to report on him. So that attitude-among other things (it sounds like) indicates that he is nuts.
