Putting the article's obvious bias aside, I find it surprising that other breweries are struggling while Corona is surging.

Personally I like Corona. Its the one beer I always keep in my fridge. While it is true, it is not a 'great' tasting beer the fact is I do not drink it because of the taste. Corona to me is a refreshing drink... like lemonade is in a hot summer day but better.

Heineken, Budweiser.. tried them and others and they simply aren't refreshing. They have either a bitter finish that kills the refreshing effect of the drink or its too watered down or too strong a taste ...or its too carbonated or not carbonated enough. Corona gets it all right for that refreshing feel.

Taste wise... well, if I drink a beer to enjoy the taste I go for this one... ambrosia of beers...

I'm guessing its popularity with the women due to the lighter taste is kicking it ahead (if you and your partner can drink the same common and "cheap" beer, that's practical), in addition to being a good drink when it's hot.

I like it.

It's one of the better tasting common beers to me.

Lacks flavor. If it weren't for the wedge of lime they give you with it there would be damn near no flavor at all.

All things being subjective here:

Corona Beer = Horsepiss

If you want something that has no taste get something cheap like Coors Lite, Miller Lite, Busch, or Milwaukee's Best,etc, and so on. Serve it with a slice of lime and avoid having to shell out import beer prices for beer that's as bad as any Major American Brewery Conglomerate swill.

If you want good, refreshing beer from the US, look for:

August Schell Weizen
August Schell Pilsner
Sam Adams Lager
or any other local craft brew of choice.

If you simply must have imported beer that's refreshing check out:

Grolsch (NL)
Spaten Weiss (GER)
Pilsner Urquell (CZ)
Birra Moretti (IT)
Czechvar (CZ) FWIW, This is the American branding of the real Budweiser Budvar, still brewed in Czeske Budovice,Czech Republic. It has to be rebranded because Anheiser Busch owns the North American copyright for right sell the cheap counterfeit imposter that they pass off as "Budweiser".

Also, FWIW, Weissbier/Weizen is named as such because instead of being brewed in accordance with the German Reinheitsgebot/Beer purity law that states that in order to be called simply 'bier'or 'beer' rather, the only grain that can be used for the brewing of 'bier' is barley. Weizen OTOH, is brewed with Wheat,(Weizen) and has to be sold as such, hence the terms 'Weissbier', 'Weizen', Hefeweizen, and so on. --It is traditionally drank with a slice of lemon.

Like others have stated, Corona is a bit weak, in my opinion. I tend to go for stouter beers. Rogue Dead Guy Ale is one of my current favorites. I'm also a big fan of Guinness.

Such is taste.

I like Corona Extra better than Guinness, Sam Adams, and some of the Asian stuff. It's really not weaker tasting [to me], just different (it has that lighter taste due to being a pale lager, but that's to be expected).

I'm not a beer snob. If it's alcoholic and sudsy, I'll drink it. For cheap guzzling beer, Miller High Life works fine. Sure, it's weak and bland, like most/all American macro-brews, but it gets the job done.

For good beer, I tend to avoid lager and go for ales. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a cheap, easy to drink thirst quenching beer. Boulevard Pale Ale is also great, but I'm not sure if it's available nationally. Other great beers from Boulevard include their IPA, Bully! Porter, and (summer only) ZoN witbier.

Actually not so much, as I havn't touched anything containing alcohol since the early 90's. I never really liked lighter beers, and the thing that I remember about Urquell is that it gave me wet farts. I preferred these:

Guiness (Gizmo cans only)
Sam Adams
Geary's (Local Maine Brew similar to Bass ESB and Sam Adams)
Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout
Mackeson's Triple Stout
Dragon Stout (Jamaican stout similar to Mackeson's, no longer imported)
Royal Oak Ale (Either no longer imported from the UK, or no longer made at all)
Sheaf Stout (either no longer imported from Oz, or no longer brewed)
Becks/Becks Dark (750ML bottles were the best)
John Courage Lager
Spaten Weiss ( Didn't like using the lemon with it though)
Doppelspaten (Spaten's Bock)
Youngs Old Nick ( 9% ABV barleywine, an acquired taste)
Also a few other local Maine Microbrews not available outside of Maine, as well as home brewed Stouts and heavy ales

I openly admit to being a beer snob.

REAL beer snobs wouldn't drink Guinness outside of Ireland... and probably not even then.

Alright, I'll just call myself a connoisseur of fine brews, then.

Eh, it's all taste.

The BIL shares little name beers with me when I see him, and whilst they're good (hey, it's beer), I can't say they're "better" than Corona Extra when that tastes nice to me.

Anyway, Cider is better.

Not fussed on Corona. I liked it at first but then as my beer drinking experiences increased it just became...meh.

I went to the store to get a sixer of Sierra Nevada for lunch, but they were out.

So, I picked up a sixer of Guinness Draft instead.

It was mostly harmless.

I had a Corona once, and it was alright, but I don't buy it for myself because I find it's a bit expensive for a light beer.
