So I just read about this and well, I'm not sure what I think.

On the one hand if indeed it helps autistics better interpret body language, that might be a good thing. On the downside, knowing that the reason that NTs focus so much on body language is because most people are not really honest, makes me think that someone autistic is going to really be upset/depressed by it. As they say, "ignorance is bliss". If I actually knew what most people where thinking, I think I'd hate more people than I do today.

Also, it's interesting to me that they claim that autistics can't read body language, but yet it is NTs who don't understand autistics at all and are incredibly cruel to them and judge them because of it. Maybe Google Glass would make more money getting NTs to understand autistics, than the other way around...huh?

What do you think?

Google Glass to help autistic people...

Sounds to me like Google is just trying to create a niche market. I read in the L.A. Times where some guy was accosted in a bar in S.F. for wearing them. People thought that he was essentially spying on them. Wearing these things would only cause us more problems then we already have. :skull:

I would not choose to associate with anyone who participated in this.

Why not, exactly?

It's a harassment tool.

Plus, the information that's gathered with this product will be data mined. A lot of video will wind up on blogs and on youtube. The more technologies like this gain acceptance the less we will have any control over what remains private, and the less we will feel at liberty to say things which are controversial or against orthodoxy. Our personal relationships will suffer. Every interaction; every time we cough or fart or belch in the vicinity of gg, will potentially wrack us with self consciousness. More and more people will become misanthropic shut ins.

There's no excuse to bring that creepy s**t onto the market. They tried before, but failed due to the outrage.

Trying to use autistic people as a selling point for their datamining and biometrics harvesting devices is nothing less than disgusting.

If anything, Google glass would make socializing worse.
