I took Risperdal so I found this interesting.

He started taking it when he was 8 years old.

The drug contains the label warning: "the risk of gynecomastia, a condition that causes men to grow female breasts, was low".

Man, 20, awarded $2.5M in damages after drug gave him breasts

He was awarded 2.5 million dollars by a jury.

Well, the "46" is the measurement around his body below his breasts. A 46 is pretty big, so I'd expect this man too be very overweight. Since being overweight can also cause "man boobs", I'd say that at least part of his problem is unrelated to the Risperdal.

YippySkippy, "moobs" (male pseudo-breasts from being overweight) don't typically have the same structure as women's breasts unless there are other endocrine issues involved.

If there was a risk of gynecomastia the drug acts as an endocrine disruptor. It should never have been given to a pre-pubescent child of either sex.

What I don't quite understand is why the drug manufacturer is the primary one getting sued, not the doctor and hospital who prescribed it despite the known side effects and actions of the drug.

Risperdal also causes massive weight gain on top of the development of female breasts in men.

I think this is an evil poison drug, they give it out like candy and it has the worst side effects imaginable. I can't believe they use it to "treat" autism.

FWIW, I'm developing man-boobs and am considering wearing non-fastenable sports bras on a regular basis to change my shape. (I've already purchased one pack to try out). I never took that risperdal drug so if I have gynecomastia it would have to be from constant weight gain. I have no plans to see a doctor about it because I refuse to discuss dieting.

It's for man's breast, meaning for females it probably provides a reduction...yay pharmaceuticals!

I'd think letting him keep the breasts would be reward enough.

I would grow boobs for 2.5 thousand. I could have one really nice vacation to somewhere I haven't seen in my sports bra with my shirt on over it all the time.

That will not be enough to hide them if you're a DD. That is too large a size to be flattened or otherwise disguised.
No Mulan-ing for you!

I've met trans men who did okay with binders. DD isn't really *that* big depending on the measuring system and frame.

I have a family member who took (or takes?) Risperdal for hallucinations. What would be the point of giving it to autistic kids? I don't study kids so I'm not up on that sort of thing.

From what I read there are still families out there that swear by that risperdal, saying they'd rather have a boy with boobs than to have to deal with him without the medication. I understand it was supposed to help with dangerous behaviours like self-harm in cases of severe autism. As I stated earlier, I'm sprouting boobs without it and could only imagine what I might look like by now had I taken the stuff.
