Huge oil field discovered in Iran

Engineers at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) have discovered an abundant oil field with a capacity amounting to 1600 million barrels.

In an address at Tehran's 12th International Oil Exhibition on Saturday, the director of the NIOC Gholam- Hossein Nozari said the new field enjoys rich and light crude oil and described the breakthrough as a gigantic step in developing Iran's oil industry and economic prosperity.

He also referred to a new capacity increase in another significant Iranian site known as Azar oilfield.

"The NIOC is currently considering a contract with Omani officials to jointly operate the Hengam gas field," Nozari told reporters.
