Was Prince one of us?
I always assumed Prince was just devout and removed from reality by money.
Watching him leave a tv interview leaves me wondering if he was an Aspie.

He was epelectic as a kid, very shy and was unconventional so Autistic or not he was one of us.
His death was a reminder of why I miss the '80's. That the man was so successful during that era was no accident. Individualism ruled, weird, experimental artists like Michael Jackson, Talking Heads, the synth playing androgynous artists of the Second British Invasion topped the charts. Faux nerd and geek had yet to become clinched branding campaigns, cameras and software did not monitor your every move, your mistakes did not go viral and your boss could not text you at 3AM, imagine that.

Prince once claimed to have been born with epilepsy, and that it was cured by an Angel.
He was physically dexterous, a good communicator, and able to manage his own business affairs. He was credited with playing 27 instruments on his debut album - obviously, very talented and very intelligent. The only thing he couldn't handle was marriage, likely the result of being from a broken home. His parents separated when he was ten, and he shuttled back and forth between their homes for many years.
When he was 37, he married 22-year-old Mayte Garcia on Valentine's Day 1996. They had a son named Boy Gregory on October 16, 1996, who was born with Pfeiffer syndrome and died a week later. Prince and Mayte divorced in 1999. In 2001, Prince married Manuela Testolini in a private ceremony; she filed for divorce in May 2006.
Prince reportedly needed double hip-replacement surgery since 2005 but would not undergo the operation unless it was a bloodless surgery because Jehovah's Witnesses do not accept blood transfusions. The condition was rumored to be aggravated by repeated onstage dancing in high-heeled boots. He was also a vegetarian.
Sinead O'Connor reported that Prince "became very violent" with her and that he "packed a bigger punch than mine" after she publicly refused to give him credit for her success.

Autistic? Doubtful. A troubled creative genius? Very likely.
We may never know what demons may have haunted Prince. Rather than mourn his passing, we should rejoice that he lived.

He was never comfortable giving taped or filmed interviews....watching his interviews, he appears to be 'presenting' a persona', not relating as in a conversation.
Interviews for written articles were always dependant on the interviewer's memory, because he refused to allow tape recorders.
Odd, isn't it, that after 3 months, the family still has not arranged a public memorial-funeral-good by-celebration of life, yet made at least one very public announcement disassociating themselves from one of the events arranged by his friends and fellow performers.
