Actually, it's *married* white women, in hetero marriages, who are either part time workers or full time homemakers. They're one husband away from a welfare check, and they know it; they're not going to rock that boat.

(Edit in again: living in that situation also induces "zero-sum" thinking, i.e. that if anyone anywhere gets any more of anything, one's own situation is diminished somehow.)
