What happened is the visitor tried going in as the resident was leaving which was technically wrong.
The visitor should have waited to be let in by the person he was there to visit.
But the resident should have been smarter like his little was and should not have been so hasty to call the police.

To make matters worse the white guy is an employee of youtube and the black guy is a software engineer with linkedin.

The video highlights the difficulties black engineers face living in the San Francisco Bay Area, home to major tech companies that have made little progress toward goals of diversifying the racial makeup of their workforces, which are still largely white and Asian. Some black techies have said racial bias at work and in the community makes Silicon Valley a worse place to work than other hubs, such as Atlanta and New York.

I am not so sure the resident would have reacted differently to a white person trying to get into the building that way.
I know that people tying to either get in behind someone "piggy backing" or trying to get in as they are leaving is a major problem.

People stand around locked doors of apts/condos waiting for a resident to open the door so they can gain access. And those living in security building are constantly being told not to let anyone in.

I guess the question is, if you were leaving a security building and anyone tried to get in, how would you feel about that?

According to the youtube employee he was reacting to past criminal activity in the vicinity and wanted to protect his son. He is drawing on his unconscious bias because i) there aren't many black people in silicon valley ii) his father was attacked and likely the man who attacked his father was a black man.

The black guy (Wesly) is an engineer so he's educated and so his voice/demeanour should have given away that he was never going to be threat but again the white dude probably never heard a black person speak except on TV.
This is no different to women clutching their handbags when a black man approaches them on the street...

If you were leaving a secure building and someone tried to get in past you while the door was open, how would you feel about it?

It happens..My sister's family and my parents both live in secure apartment complexes and visitors come through when they use swipe cards (although the residents are either white or east asian so no need to profile). These complexes have intercomms but visitors don't use them and just wait for a resident (they could also call via mobile).

I notice when I was in America a number of the apartments employ security.

I wouldn't care, even if you get into an apartment complex you can't break into the individual apartments because they have secure doors and they can't steal cars because they would need a swipe card.

I did not know apartments can not be broken into. And it seems if someone can get through a building entrance that needs a swipe card, code or key they can get into the garage the same way.
I wonder why these places have signs on the main entrance saying "do not let anyone into the building" if it is not a problem.

I think it depends on what the level of crime is in a particular area. Where I live the apartment buildings downtown have signs like that on the door because of all the tweakers. Most of whom I have seen are white. You need a code to get into restrooms in restaurants because of that too.

Black guy: enters building when white guy opens door to leave

White guy: suspicious that black guy wasn't "buzzed" into building by an occupant

White guy: What are you doing here?

Black guy: Waiting for a friend.

White guy: suspicious.

White guy: What's your friend's name?".

Black guy: “I don’t give a f*ck, I don’t have to tell you sh*t.”

White guy: more suspicious

Later, the black guy's friend approached from the OUTSIDE. So, was the black guy actually trespassing and trying to wait indoors? The black guy never establishes that he has any reason to be in the building.

Does his friend even live there?

I do not think this was quite a bbq becky situation. Although I do think the resident should not have been so hasty. The little kid sure knew how this was going to turn out. Probably worried about getting harassed at school.
