5 sentenced to death in Khashoggi killing

Riyadh Saudi Arabia

A Saudi court today sentenced 5 people to death but placed no blame on the royal family for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi,a Saudi journalist working for the Washington post when he was killed in Istanbul last year.

The prosecutors's office in Riyadh announced the sentences,saying the five were guilty of committing and directly participated in the murder,three other defendents were sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Khashoggi, Critic of the Saudi goverment,was living in Turkey when he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on october 2nd 2018.He was never seen again and no body was ever found.

There is *some* satisfaction at the fate of *some* who were implicit in the unconscionable perpetration.
I suspect it was given as some sort of appeasement "gift" to mitigate further intensive scrutiny of the "head honcho".
We all know who was ultimately responsible though, surely. 8)

Most people including Turkey where the crime happened think the Saudi royal family got away with one on this verdict.

Well it makes it look more convincing when you have 5 Lee Harvey Oswalds instead of one....

The royal family are of course able to go back to their normal lives jetsetting, taking alcohol/drugs and abusing slaves
