Lockdown or Economic Growth, Which is more important?

NB It may not be a particularly good poll but I really need something to do

Corona is here to stay but as we slow down its spreading, we buy time to learn more about successful treatments.

The economy should not completely stop but adapt - more localized supply chains, delivery-based detail goods distribution, shift towards remote work where possible. I can see it everywhere here. Maybe the relatively young economy of my country is more flexible than older capitalisms?

I'm opposed to the lockdown ending. Since it began there has been a ninety nine percent reduction in rat running lorries shaking my home which drives me nuts. Then we note the massive reduction in stinking fumes which is great for those sensitive to them.

Corona has unintended environmental benefits but at a high cost to human kind.

What we need is unlimited testing.
This may be our future if a vaccine isn't found.

Once we have mass distribution of the antibodies test, I feel we should ease the lockdown.

People seem to think the economy is only about Wall Street. It is also about tens of millions of poor working-class people with children to care for who are going to suffer the soonest and the hardest.

So when you think economy, don't think of some rich white guy in a suit. Think of a single minority mother with three young children to feed and shelter.

Covid19 is not the Spanish Flu or the Bubonic Plague. It's not even remotely close to that. It's not even close to the flu which takes out at least 650,000 people per flu season.

More than adequate measures have been taken.

Apirl 30th is a resonable time to start things going again.

I think drive up testing like South Korea would work in the USA. You could get tested while waiting for your drive up take out order to be filled.

Wall Street is abstract and far away from here.

"The economy" is the owner of a tiny grocery store downstairs and others like him. Farmers. Needlepeople. Pharmacists. Delivery guys. A pizzeria owner and her cook. Various factory workers. You get the idea, I hope.
All this economy can do greatly without any equivalent of Wall Street whatsoever.

We have drive-through testing, but on a too-limited basis.

I choose a fourth answer. I don't know because I'm not a doctor or a scientist.

Moreover people are free to continue self isolation. If a family wants to stay at home until they think it's safe, no one is stopping them.

Not sure about that. If a company or business renews its activities then employees will be forced to comply or lose their jobs.

Here in my country there are towns that are unaffected by the virus so far so they are discussing selective release from lockdown according to demographics (Ministry of Commerce). Opposing this strategy is the Ministry of Health stating that there is inter-city migration and not everybody works in the city they reside in.

I'm working remotely from home, but our employee's manual states that we may be required to return to in-office work once things have returned to normal.

The way I see it is a prolonged lockdown means no job anyways. There are those who have said they prefer to be out of work than risk infecting a family member. A lift on lockdowns is not going to infringe on that.

Also a months long lockdown would probably end up in them not having a job to go back to anyways because the company they were working for went bankrupt.

There will basically be like 1 job available for every 10 people.

Those with degrees will end up working at McDonald's. And those who used to work at McDonald's will be homeless and eating out of dumpsters.

Many companies are going belly up. Choosing to risk infecting your family or feeding them is a painful choice to have to make. Nearly everyone I know is on unpaid leave.
