Some landlords are taking advantage of the coronavirus,soliciting sexual favors in lieu of rent payments from low income tenants.

Khara Jabola-Carolus,executive director on the Hawaii commission on the status of women,said her office has received more reports of landlords sexually harassing tenants in the last two weeks than in the two years she has worked at her position.

Including landlords offering to move in with tenants and sending explicit photos after they communicated concerns over paying rent.

While some states have enacted eviction rent moratoriums,experts caution this may not be able to keep lower income renters in there homes.

^ That’s been going on in the UK for years.

Zero guaranteed hours employment contracts plus cuts to housing benefits left a significant number of people vulnerable to predatory property-owning perverts, I expect it’s becoming more prevalent due to CV lockdown measures: haven’t seen anything in that issue specifically, but I know that deaths as a result of domestic violence have doubled since lockdown... indicator that it’s enhancing vulnerability.

^ My thoughts were more along the lines of low-income workers being pressured into what is, in effect, prostitution.
If a landlord gets an STD from doing this... it’s only a concern to me in the sense that he may pass it on to his wife.

If there was any justice in the world these landlords would be hung in the public square. Too bed society is full of feeble wimps and pathetic bootlickers who don't care about justice and allow the corrupt to run rampant.

^ I think re-housing them in an appropriate facility along with all the rapists, pimps & peado’s would do just fine.

A few years ago when it started happening more here due to crazy expensive housing costs, the collective response from Europeans who live in expensive cities was basically “LoL so what? That’s normal.”
