Lawmakers Press Amazon on Sales of Chemical Used in Suicides

I take it there aren't many reviews or returns for that product.

There should be some warning sent out to the police if a random person purchases chemicals associated with suicides or covering up a murder.

I mean if a person buys tubs of hydrochloric acid, garbage bags and a chainsaw then that should also trigger concern.

This is stupid, I use that stuff all the time and have been buying it from Amazon for years, it's a key ingredient in meat curing, particularly bacon, ham, and corned beef. There are far more dangerous chemicals available over the counter, people just don't realize it for the most part.

People have been buying the stuff to commit suicide in the past two years? Coincidence, I think not. How can anyone *not* be suicidal in this day and age? Except the covidiots, obviously.

People don't think inert gas be like it is, but it do.

You can asphyxiate yourself with helium or any other inert gas quickly and painlessly, it's one of the most surefire and genuinely painless ways to kill yourself. Honestly I don't know why they don't use it for the death penalty, it's much more humane than any other method I'm aware of.

American states do use the gas chamber, but use poison gas, and not inert gas.

Supposed to be humane, but apparently its anything but. Very hideous and painful.

The one state of Oklahoma did actually try to switch from poison gas to inert gas. Namely nitrogen. Not helium, but the same idea apparently. Regular air is mostly nitrogen so it amounts regular old air, with the oxygen removed.

But the switchover was long and costly, and they abandoned the project.. and now use lethal injection because they found a reliable source for lethal inject supplies. So ... no one in Oklahoma ever got the honor of being gased by nitrogen. So we dont know if its really a better way to go or not. Oh well.

I agree. It is easier to kill your self using helium than one might expect. There have been cases where people died by this method at parties. They breathe too much helium out of large balloons before trying to catch their breath with air. They get a high from the oxygen loss in the process. Repeated over and over again causes gradual brain damage even if they do not suffocate to to death.

Side note: I use liquid helium in the NMR that I maintain. It must be filled 3 to 4 times a year. When I fill it, two other people must be in the room just in case the magnet quenches and converts all of the liquid helium to gaseous helium. The doors to the room must be propped open to allow air flow. The helpers are there to pull me out of the room to safety if I pass out in the process. There is a flush valve for fresh air, but that might not be quick enough for those passed out in the room. It is a major PITA to do each time.

By Amazon , why not just step out onto the hwy/ freeway in front of a speeding Amazon truck.?
Ban sales of trucks ? Natural gas / most homes older or whatever still have old time ovens , ban the natural gas ?

Same. While I'm fundamentally opposed to the death penalty this method would resolve at least some of the arguments used to argue against current methods. There's no need to induce a heart attack or inflict lethal trauma when the state has the option to basically make 'em pass out and not wake up again.
