Yeah, the air smells really good when the odor goes away.

Wiccans do not use those things during rituals, and the only chanting that is done during spell-casting is that to make sure that the spell has taken. There is no satanic element involved (Wiccans as well as Pagans like myself do not believe that Satan exists), nor do Wiccans practise black magic. They are herbalists just the same as any other new-age practitioner, and just because they follow different gods (Hecate, for one) doesn't mean they are evil people to be hunted down by Christians etc because they are practising black arts. My Pagan beliefs are a mixture of Wiccan, Celtic and even eastern (like Buddhist) beliefs, and just because I don't believe in the Christian god means that they can condemn me and others to damnation. What gives them the right to judge others anyway?

Besides, the most recent day to celebrate Wiccan rituals was Aug 1, or Litha (if I remember my calendar rightly); the others being Feb 2 , March 21 (Oltara), May 1 (Beltane), June 21, Sept 21, Oct 31 (Samhain) and Dec 21, which is Yule. Sure, they are based on lunar cycles, and even if she was belatedly celebrating Litha, then the neighbours had no right to disrespect her religion by calling the cops. Seems like Christian thuggery, definitely.

well, aparently, this wiccan uses those things during rituals...

and i doubt it was christian thuggery that led her neighbors to call the cops, it was probably the smell of burning rubber and the sound of her drunken screams that did that...

Anybody can call themselves a Wiccan just like anyone can claim they are a Christian(and act against the things that Jesus preached).Poo by any other name smells as foul.

I should think the burning rubber smelt pretty bad but maybe not quite as bad as poo.

Good posts, all. My instincts tell me that there is a bit more to this story than has been told in the news. I feel that it may be the tail end of a long-running conflict between these houses, which, as Chosen One said, may indeed have been fed by religious thuggery of some kind. Being a Junkyard Sorcerer myself, (Urbanius Paganii) I admit, Xtian shenannigns were the first things to come to mind.
However, the same thought must have occurred to the neighbors as well, just the other way around.
Point is, we may never know what really happened that night. Was this a drunken idiot, yelling gibberish and burning whatever happened to be in reach, or was it a case of misunderstanding issues of Fayth? Only the dog knows for sure, and he ain't talking.
