We're screwed.

May as well go kiteboarding with all the stronger winds storms are going to bring. No better way to make the most of it in our short lifetimes.

It happens to coincide with the latest MIT clock report.

MIT's climate clock says the globe will hit a critical warming mark in 6 years (2030)
By 2030 we reach the point of no return and and life on earth is going to undergo the next great extinction
https://www.wbur.org/news/2023/12/08/cl ... mit-boston

Curiously it coincides with MIT prediction that the globe will start to spiral downward after 2020 and finish by 2040

Its too late for "save the planet". Once the humans are gone, I have a feeling the planet will take care of itself

I hope the first islands to go are the Cayman Islands. Send those tax havens to the bottom of the sea. The super rich will collectively crap their pants when they see the trillions of dollars they've been siphoning from our country sunken and worthless. Maybe they'll change and invest taking climate change seriously or maybe they'll save their own skins and live in bunkers and exclude the rest of us when things get really really bad.

We have been above 1.5C above preindustrial for several months now. This is essentially what 1.5C of warming looks like. Does anyone want to see 2 or 2.5C?

Nor'easter coming up the coast a week before Christmas. 2 to 4 inches expected here... rain.

This time of year, any time we get rain all I can think is "Twenty years ago, this would have been snow".

North of here Cairns has just had unprecendented rainfall and flooding.

To be honest, I don't follow climate change news because it's too depressing, we're too late to stop severe impacts now.
