Mormons can marry the dead too..

So perhaps these Jewish folk fear that their relatives are in Heaven (though I don't know if they really believe in that) and those Mormons carry out the ceremony and this causes a trapdoor to spring open below their relatives and they slide to the fires of Hell to burn with Beelzebub because an unholy rite was performed in their names...
