President Bush commutes the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, convicted of shooting a Mexican drug runner in 2005.

He's done plenty of things right. It's just that he couldn't end the war in Iraq before he got out of office (if you start a controversial war, you have to end it too), and he couldn't stop the economic crises.

Basically he's messed up enough times to be considered a below average president. But to say he's never done anything right until now is stretching the truth well past the breaking point.

Well, I've heard quite a number of people who view his policy on Africa quite favorably, just to start.

Invading Afganistan. There might of been some issues with the various strategies imployed, but the actual invasion was the right choice. Incidentally I think this effectively disproves any 9/11 conspiracies. Why go after Afganistan, which is historically difficult to occupy and has essentially no oil?

Tsunami Relief
Marine Protection - designated an area around the Hawaiian Island as the largest marine reserve in the world. Apparently the area is almost as large as the lower 48.
Bush appointed more women and minorities then any other president

I never agreed with or liked Bush, but his final days in the Whitehouse were his better days.

Hmmmm... I haven't seen anything here that stands out as a big accomplishment for a president. Any of the things mentioned any president would have done in the normal course of business as a world leader.

Latest I heard was Bush and Hoover are in contention for the worst president the country has ever had. Bush does hold the record for the most vacation time of any president. At least he knows how to enjoy himself even if its on tax payers expense.

I would bet Obama will accomplish more in his first hundred days in office that Bush did in 8 years. Any takers?

James Buchanan ranks at the bottom because he quicken the coming of the Civil War and some of the things he did were almost treason to the Union as well.

Quote:
His inability to avert the Civil War has subsequently been assessed as the worst single failure by any President of the United States.
