I've tried Vitamin Water a couple times before. I agree that most of your vitamins and minerals should come from eating a healthy, balanced diet, and not from these "health" drinks alone. I'm a track and cross country athlete, so that means that I also should be taking multivitamins (which is good for my iron, and my ferratin levels, as I'm a woman who is also a collegiate distance runner). I also try to eat a lot of vegetables, which I've been doing a lot better with than before. I tend to eat like a horse during dinner! lol I also hate it when companies try to sell juice, but it ends up being water and sugar with just a little bit of juice. There's nothing like pure orange juice in the morning. I think that Gatorade is good as long as it's drank with water after your workout, at least if you're a distance runner. I think that people just need to drink more water on the sidelines (and off) and rely less on flavorful drinks. I confess, I'm not that good with drinking lots of water either lol. I also don't think energy drinks can be that good for you in the long run. I don't know how much evidence there is for this, but it seems as if over time that people who drink energy drinks on a regular basis are going to be headed into some real problems later in life (such as dental and heart problems to name a couple). I've never had to rely on energy drinks to keep me awake and I've been able to get through some nights of heavy homework just fine. A lot of these drinks provide you with a temporary energy boost, but then end up giving you a nasty sugar crash. I'd say it's a lot cheaper to buy a huge canister of multivitamins and eat healthily and exercise regularly than to keep buying all these energy drinks and "health" elixirs and what not every day. Plus people wouldn't be getting a sugar load every time they drink a "health" drink.
