I was in two minds whether to post the article or not. It made me literally feel sick to the stomach that there are people out there doing this to children. However, I take the view that when atrocities like this are happening they should be made public knowledge and not swept under the carpet because they are too disturbing. If people keep turning a blind eye (no pun intended) to this sort of thing then it is likely to continue.

This is disgusting I mean yuck.

Dear God, this is ... hell.

Way to go on that corruption, India.

To those who haven't read the story. In a nutshell homeless young children begging in India are being kidnapped then drugged and their arms or legs are amputated or they are blinded to make them look more pitiful. The children are then put on the streets again to beg for money. Tourists tend to take pity on such children and give them more money than they do to other beggars. All the money goes to the "mafia" or "handlers" of these children. Some even torture the children or douse the children's open wounds with acid to make them fester and look worse for the benefit of the tourists.

At the very least I think people can be made aware of what is going on. While people who go on holiday or visit such places and continue to give money to such desperate children they are continuing to make it a lucrative business for the handlers of the children to continue going out kidnapping and mutilating more children.

You made the right call. Knowing is always better than not knowing. Now that we all know, there's a chance we can improve the situation.

Consider the source of the article before you feel too sick, but if this is really happening but yes it's horrible.

I keep a plastic bag of those two for a dollar pairs of "miracle gloves" that stretch and are amazingly warm. I give them to people right here in America that are begging on the streets, on Highway on ramps or near to shopping centers. People tell me "oh, those beggars make plenty of money and are laughing at you!" because they saw it on Oprah or Jerry Springer. I just laugh at them, because no one has refused my gloves. They are usually on hands before I am out of their area.
