There is a long thread on Reddit about it. One person who seems to live there gave this advice:
Quote:
In my car I keep about 10 packets of Parle G biscuits. Each packet has about 5 biscuits, and they cost 5 rupees or about 10 cents. Whenever I see someone on the road, I rip open(so they cant sell it to a store, which happens) the packet of biscuits and give it to the beggar. If Im walking down the street I'll buy a beggar some food from a street food stall. I dont like not giving anything, but at the same time I know that giving money is a bad bad idea.

If you do come to India know this, nothing is what it seems. These situations are real, I know because I'm from there. Child labour, child beggars are everywhere.
If you give one you are just letting it continue, as is anyone else that does. It's sad, but sometimes looking away can save another child's eye.
