There are a lot of things I can watch or listen to that can have a positive affect on me one day, then a negative one another day. I think it depends a lot on your current mood, so as your depression is clinical, I would suggest first to TAKE YOUR MEDS! lol. All I did was skim through your first post. You do take meds right? If you don't yet, try to find things that would make you laugh, such as a funny tv show or something of the sort. This helped me a LOT when I struggled more than I do today as far as depressing emotions go.

Umm. Meds aren't always a cure all for depression. Oh how I wish it were that simple.

yes take your meds or we will stab you!! !! ! jk

:? This thread isn't about me and I don't listen to metal. Hmm... Are you talking to someone else?

Personally listening to something too upbeat when I'm in a bad mood is much more likely to make me feel like killing people. Neutral is better. To each their own I guess.

I think I know what you mean OP. something like that pretty much ruined Mos Def's "Mathematics" for me. I always loved this tune, but somehow it got mentally linked with some very good memories and it makes me sad to listen to it now :(

I don't have a good answer for this, I stopped listening to the song hoping that time will remove that pathway in my brain somehow. ask me again in a few years :p

Thank you all for the responses! I suppose that indulging in the ideas would not be a bad thing, especially if it is, like you say, only for a short time. By the way, sorry, but I do not have Guitar Hero. Yes, I do take medication for my depression, and I...I sometimes forget to take them. I try to remember, but at times I suffer from this idea that it is somewhat dehumanizing. Thank you very much, though, for your suggestion regarding comedy. I really hope I am not sounding like I am belittling anyone at all! Dragonforce? I'm a bit unfamiliar. Where are they from if I may ask?

Thanks again for everybody's responses!

Mind you, if you're allergic to guitar solo's DragonForce really are the last band you'll want to listen to.

It all depends what mood I'm in. I love rap, other times if I'm even angrier I lile listening to death metal. I will get fixated on the same song and play it over and over again - sometimes til I hate it.

Does ending up hating it ever go away, or are you stuck with that feeling? I ask because I know how that rut gets when I am really down.

Lol dragonforce? Well I guess I'm not a fan of their vocals but they are ok.
Recently I made a metal playlist and a R.A.C. playlist on my computer. I made a "vampyric" one too, it's really emotional but I don't think your the type that imagines themselves sulking through a dark castle or something lol. Anyway as far as metal that summons a whole slew of feelings that might correspond with yours here are a few titles:
Bathory is really good, some of my favorites being:
The Lake
The Wheel of Sun
The Woodwoman
One Rode To Asa Bay
and..
Dunkelheit by Burzum
Glare of autumn by Drudkh
The wanderor by Emperor is a repeditive instrumental but good
Gardien du silence by Advocatus Diaboli
Wisdom opens the gates for the king by Ansestors Blood
Poppyflowers are blossoming (Chapter I) by Kroda
Einherjer (doomed to die) by Nachtfalke
Concieved in darkness by As The Sky Bleeds
Das Winterreich by Vinterriket
Winter solstice by Forest Stream.. most songs by them are good
Merciless by Sammath (guitars are 8o)
Blackvisions of the almighty by Behemoth
I am what they fear by Graveland
Satyricon is pretty popular
Blut Aus Nord.. Just about anything
Bak de syv fjell is on youtube I think...
And if your really into that stuff maybe Alghazanth but anyway...

I don't agree with the messages from r.a.c. because it's racist but the music is very upbeat, and I assure you strangely enough you will get some kind of upbeat feeling from it. Just don't pay attention to the lyrics lol...
Triumph of the will by Rahowa
A white world by Endless Pride
Svastika by Pluton Svea
Time for war by Fyrdung
White revolution by Jocke Karlsson
W.O.T.A.N. returns by Wolfnacht
Hail the new dawn by Skrewdriver
Final salute by Squadron
Totenkopf by Totenkopf
Our war by Fortress
As the fullmoon disappears by Absurd
Keep fighting by Bully boys
Third way by Kolovrat
Bloodline by Sniper
Kampfer europas by Endloser
A fine day to die by Squadron
By final solution by Vanguard
