i cant speak for everybody. so i say what i know about it.
no, it wont. it becomes part of self. somewhat like, they are not entirely and forever gone, because they live in ur memory. because u still care. because their faces come in front of ur eyes and u know what they'd say to u in every given case. there are ways to lose someone, worse than death, please forgive me to say that. when the body of a person is alive, but the person is no longer there. and all u have is memory. and u cant see their real face, because their eyes are empty, and all u have is still memory, but tainted when it contacts reality. death provides a closure, unlike this. doesnt make it less tragic and less of pain. but they live in ur memory.

It will get better, but some wounds never completely heal, unfortunately. The more intimate the relationship with the loved one, the harder it is. I'm very sorry for your loss!

Yes. Don't rush it. It can take decades.

But eventually when you think of Karen, it will be with a smile, not a tear. (Paraphrase of Joe Biden, who knows a thing or two about loss).

I'm sorry for your loss. How very sad.

I'm so sorry to read this as well. My condolences on such a grievous loss. :(

Have you had any bereavement counselling? Have you read any books about grief or had an opportunity to talk to (or blog with) others who have lost their love? If you have spiritual beliefs this may be a time to turn toward that, as well.

I lost my father in 2001 and I am still grieving every day. It just occurred to me this week that I've never processed the emotion properly, and that I should be seeking help myself. Sometimes pain is too big to tackle on our own. Don't be afraid to reach out to people, even if it's only online.

Hugs,
Is

I’m sorry for your loss, too.

Bereavement counseling would be the way to go.

Please....never lose hope.

It can and will get better, but healing comes in it's own time, with complete disregard for our schedules and expectations. All things are impermanent; even grief. Please be especially generous and gentle with yourself, and may you find deep solace and peace.
The suggestions to seek out bereavement counseling and support groups is particularly sound advice.

My deepest condolences upon your loss.
