What you think, should he be banned?

I'm starting to doubt myself too, but he's still a troll.

Aspie17, you seem to be confused as to what you think having Aspergers actually means. My guess is that you were misdiagnosed if anything. I'm sure you do have problems, but if anyone here does now have AS, it is you.

Yeah I think I'm going to avoid this thread from now on.
Aspie17 - If you are actually being serious about all this then I'm sorry you have problems in your life, but to me it doesn't sound like AS. I'll leave it now anyway though. Just quit assuming you know things about people you've know very little about.

I believe aspie17 might have AS, but I believe he is behaving like a troll and rather ignorant about it, since he clearly does not realise that it did not become an official DSM thing until 1994, hence those who were kids before then had a monkeys chance in hell of being diagnosed with it.

Add to that the fact that 1)Some parents would prefer to ignore any abnormal signs in their kids and pretend nothing is wrong and so not tell a doctor about it.
2)these kids might have simply been considered to be 'naughty' or 'shy' etc and so it wouldn't have been bought to anyone's attention
3)It is really only in more recent times that we have specialists in this area...even today, you can go to your Gp and find they haven't even heard of Aspergers...go up to a random person in the street and ask them if they know what it is...can guarantee that in 80% of cases they will not.

In short, just get over yourself and quit trying to take a prize for being the only AS specimen on the boards  because in the end, why come here at all if all you want is to get people angry and make enemies? Most come here for support...you arent going the right way about getting that support.

The only reason he comes here is to piss off everyone else and make them feel like s**t.

To avoid conflict I ask all those that do not have helpful advice for Aspie17 to not read or post in this thread. Also likely none of us are trained to deal with an individual with these problems. He is posting in this thread presumably because he wants help. That help will come from experts such as doctors in real life and not from the exchange of words on a forum site.

Also I ask people not to make emotional pleas for Aspie17 to do anything. They will not help him he needs to be told to seek expert help only.

People trained to deal with these problems don't necessarily actually know any better than a layperson how to deal with them. There's sort of a mystique around the training, but it doesn't really amount to much as far as I've seen.

As far as the comment elsewhere of "I'm 16, how much better can it get?" -- around 16 is the worst age for a lot of people, a lot of the time it can only get better from there, but the problem is when you're 16 it doesn't look like it can get better. But it can. I'm 26 and I never want to be 16 again but I'm happy now.

I'm going to say one last thing, then leave this one alone. If Aspie17, or anyone else who reads this, is seriously suicidal & not getting the support they need, they need to contact one of the suicide and/or teen crisis lines (depends on your situation). Sometimes they can cut through the s**t and help with real solutions to the type of problems Aspie17 has described. Just as an example, a friend who'd tried unsuccessfully to get into a battered womens' shelter (for months), finally called the crisis line & she got the help she needed within a day, and in a terrific shelter, no less. This just happened several days ago so my mind is still pretty 'blown' about it. Anyway, when nothing else is working, those are important resources.

Thanks for saying that TheMachine 1. There are better places than The Haven to question someone's diagnoses or discuss the possibility of someone being a troll. This is the place to come when one is in in pain or to help someone who is; there should be no other reason to post here.

I know what you are doing Aspie17, because I did it too and I was twice your age when I did. You don't want to die; what you want is for someone to give you a reason to live, something to make it worth all the pain that you are in, and nobody has given you a very good one; have they? I can't give you one either because I don't have one myself and I am nearly half a century older than you; what I can do is tell you why I never killed myself and give you something to think about before you do.

Mauapp hit the nail right on the head two weeks ago, you cannot be sure death will solve the problem. It will not get you any friends or increase anybody's opinion of you; it may relieve the pain, but then again it may not, and if you find that it did not there is no way back. I once thought that it could not be any worse, but than it did get worse and I knew I was wrong. I know that is not very comforting, but in a crazy sort of way it helped.

The other reason why I am still alive sounds awfully egotistical. I have come to the conclusion that there is little enough intelligent life on Earth without taking myself out. Do you really hate what is going on inside your head or is it the hell people give you for it? To destroy one of the few people in the world who know how wrong that is would only make the problem worse.
