Feeling Blocked By Everyone

When my father died at the age of 81 back in 2006, I found out about his death when my mother received a death notice from the Social Security Administration in the mail.

Hartzofspace.. youhave plenty of people on this board who would step in to support you. I hope you dont feel too bad about that friend who didnt email back. I had a friend who did that to me a few months back I had known her for 10 years.

Im not really friends with her anymore, and I dont know if we will be friends again. It is hard, finding others on my wavelength.

Thank you for all the kind, supportive words. I was able to see my mother, today! I remembered a woman who used to be my neighbor, who had offered to drive me if the need arose. She drove me to my sister's house, and I was able to spend a couple of hours with my mother.

But I now know that when certain family members say that they will do a thing, I had better take it with a grain of salt.

Be thankful for the kindness of those in our lives; our families are inherited, but the rest we find and choose for ourselves. I am glad that you have such a person in your life, and got the opportunity to see your mother.

I am definitely thankful for the few friends that I have. It's amazing how we learn this about families. I have learned that families will not always make you a priority, no matter how you feel about them.

Yes, it has helped, to visit her. Even if I can't make it over there again, before she dies, I will know that I have spent some time with her.
