What is Ro Tel dip?

1 pound Velveeta cheese-like product
1 10 oz can Ro-Tel brand tomatoes with jalapenos

Melt the quasi-cheese substance in the microwave. Stir in the tomatoes and jalapenos. Serve with corn chips -- tortilla chips, not Fritos.

It's somehow wonderful and disgusting at one and the same time...

I think I understand what OliveOil means, telling someone that they shouldn't be depressed because they are 'pretty' then just brushing it off and asking for some food is not what I would call giving emotional support and it is also extremely ignorant.

Hope you are feeling better now.

I was kinda kidding, but not quite. I'm about twice your age, and have fond memories of when people simply frowned, nodded and grunted by way of greeting instead of the recent trend for hugging and kissing. Ahhh, those were the days....

I've been arguing with him over that for about 25 years now. This is the first time he's ever tried. I see why now.

I told him afterwards that while I do appreciate the effort, we need to go back to it being a given that he doesn't try to give me emotional support.

I'll call Angie for that. She's very shrill and cries at the drop of a hat. She can listen and commiserate and all that with me. She also hugs and tells me she loves me, in a totally straight best friend way. So that will have to do for now.

My mother just criticises "Well Frances you wouldn't be depressed if you'd just <insert whatever she's on about right now>" I tell her "I bet I would"

I also suck at giving emotional support. It's never good enough. My mom says I am too logical when people need it and instead I am being logical. Is it also a guy thing to suck at it too? I always thought it was an AS thing because we do tend to be logical and we are seen as lacking empathy because of this based on what I have read and I can relate to that part of having it.

He did suck did he? Some people suck at it so it's best to not go to them for it unless you want logical support.

Lol... "You're pretty. Stop it."

Was that really effort on his part? Sounds like a moron.

Ro Tel dip is this. Down here. Cut open and brown a buttload of hot italian sausage. Or 2 lbs of hamburger. Or two lbs of deer. Drain it and put it in the crock pot. Then cut up a big Velveeta and put it in. Then put in two cans of Ro Tel Tomatoes. In four hours on high its done.

as everyone said; he tried, he probarbly found some (online) textbook tutorial about how to give support and applied that in the well-known machine-like method.
that being said; i'm also bad at giving emotional support, my role in that is just being the shoulder and the diary; they talk to me without me interrupting them, and they can lean on my shoulder if they feel the need, but that's also as far as i'm able to go; iwould not know what to say or do otherwise
