I guess I like to believe there was a time when humans were more compassionate and respectful to their fellow men, but I could be wrong. Still it sucks that I try to be that way and nobody else does.

Yes, you're the only person in the world with any sort of decency.

And what time would that be :?

I just can't get over the feeling I have about humanity sinking down a dark hole. Every time I look at the news I always get depressed from learning about the bad stuff people do to each other, and it seems like everywhere I go regardless if it's on the internet or in the real world I'm seeing a lot of unpleasantness in people. It's just people constantly being rude and hateful and it's like people have completely forgotten about what manners and politeness are. It makes me just want to hide in my room all the time and never come out.

Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Given what I read on the news and how people treat each other both online and in real life...yes. I think people are getting worst and considering how bad children are getting is an indication that it will continue to get worse as time goes on. I'm with marshall that the Internet is causing some damage. I think this began with social networking sites like Facebook.

And even though we've gotten past things in our society such as racism, sexism, and feudal violence, progressivism is America is very stagnant and is far less progressing than it actually was in the past. You'd think that in the future the pace would be much quicker than this but there are still alot of people and now younger generations who are trying to bring back old-school ways about how women and minorities should be treated...again I the think Internet plays a major role in this.

I also think that we are deterring education wise as high positions and PHDs don't hold as much value as they once did.

Let's not forget the overpopulation and over-consumerism that's harming the planet as a faster pace.

The only reason that it seems worse now is that the media is more omnipresent, and the media's job is to convince you that everything is terrible. Just stop following the news, and you'll be amazed at how much better you feel.

People have always been murdered. In fact, proportionally fewer people are murdered now than in any other time in history. However, murders didn't used to be agonised about by people who have never even met the victim.

Oh, man! Do you feel like everyone ignores you when you try to be a good person?
