I fell the same way. i hate AS, I hate it because it means no friends and no girlfriend. And I'm probably too old to improve much now. I would never have kids of my own; my AS genes end with me.

No, your AS doesn't mean no friends and no girlfriend.
Most likely you just think it does.
If you don't have any friends, there's probably some chance that it's affected by other factors in your life besides (or as well as) Asperger's Syndrome.

I've learned that you shouldn't treat it like its your crutch. If you absolutely believe that you cannot do something because of HFA, then your own thoughts are the only thing preventing you. Just don't give up. Try harder.

I think that was the wisest thing I've ever said!

I hate having AS sometimes. Especially when people say I feel no remorse.

I don't hate autism itelf. I hate living with it in this f**ked up world filled with the f**ked up c*nts that make up humanity. Personally I would get rid of mine myself if I had the choice. The benefits would exceed the losses I think.

Some people think I use it as a crutch, that is not the case, I use it as an excuse. The difference is that when you use it as a crutch you refuse to try something because you know you are going to fail. When you use it as an excuse you tried something and gave it your all and still failed so you use the autism as an excuse to justify your failure. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It's not half bad as an excuse. :) Excuses are good because they soften the impact of failure, and a good excuse can reduce sentencing in court. So don't listen to people who say "no excuses!" If you use it as an excuse instead of a crutch it could be one of the few good things you can get out of it. You'll be less afraid to try something because the criticism over failure can be deflected with the excuse you know you have if you fail. :P

The main thing to realize is that being autistic wouldn't suck so much if everyone else didn't suck. Did I articulate that in a sophisticated manner?
F**k no! Is there truth in what I just said despite the fact that it wasn't articulated in a sophisticated manner? :?: You decide. :?

I'm sorry, but i really have tried everything that i can think of, and everything has failed. fair enough, milder cases of AS may be able to get friends, partners, but not me.

It is not so.

Look around, very few are happy. About the only thing I see about AS is we are more perceptive of the problems of life, most do not have a clue why life sucks. They have and do everything they are supposed to, are socially popular, have several ex wives, are paying child support, cheated on their taxes to make the payments, and now have to explain in Federal Court. Suddenly everyone has forgotten their name.

They all know they would turn in others to beat the rap.

There are a lot more people who live to play football, they give up everything, and very few make the NFL.

We would all like to have it all, but no one does.

You can be happy with who you are, or unhappy.

One size fits all.

I definitely hate its impact in my life, but the only thing I can counter it with is to strive to be happy as much as possible. *sighs* Its the hard knock life for us....

That's exactly how I feel. Of course, we are all who we are, outside of our autism.

To be honest, that's a pretty normal reaction. To hate that which one perceives as holding them back is only natural, just as it is natural to be willing to take steps to rid oneself of said perceived hindrance.

Yeah, I believe that's true as well.

When I got diagnosed, I hated it, I felt at all ends. After a while you find out that what all the professionals say IS true, you aren't autistic. You have autism, and you are who you are. Just like a person who has diabetes isn't Mr. Diabetic. They're who they are first, and then they have diabetes. Its just a social taboo that non educated people (Doesn't matter if they're NT or Diagnosed) make. Unfortunetly I can't tell you how understand that and fully appreciate it. You have to discover it on your own.

I don't hate my AS, I hate the people who hate me for who I am.
