That's what I did. I've been on my job 34 years.
Many of these jobs don't require contact with the public.
I just did some research on the term "civil service jobs," since I had actually never heard that term before, and it seems really intriguing. Thanks for letting me know about that--I'm definitely going to be looking into it as a possibility.
