Anyone would be freaked out by that
So daunting and frightening
I dont think being a mother exempts u from that
I hope it goes well and you have ppl with u during recovery to ease the process

You SHOULD be scared. Any surgery involving the spine is a big deal.

Have you ever had a baby and taken Lamaze training? I have benefited a great deal from various types of relaxation training such as Lamaze, and I also had biofeedback training. I use it at the dentist and any time I have to have a medical procedure. I just put myself into a semi-trance and float on through.

It sounds as if you've made a good decision based on the surgeon and the rationale for this type of surgery. Do whatever you need to do, whether stimming, anxiety meds, or anything else. When I was having radiation treatment for breast cancer, I took a Buddhist "mala" or rosary (prayer beads) along to soothe myself.

I'm wishing you good luck in your surgery and recovery.

I hope this helps OP

Great to hear you made it! Good luck on your recovery!

Last time I had surgery I put some of the antibiotics in a plastic bag so I could count how many were left. This made it easier to keep track of when I last took them. In addition to writing the times down on a piece of paper.

I'm home now, sleeping off the anesthesia. I'm med sensitive so it will be two weeks of trying to get the anesthesia out of my system (yay emotional rollercoaster).

All the medical staff was very caring and understanding about the anxiety and autism. They took very good care of me. The one big issue was I didn't find out until the morning of surgery that they were replacing TWO discs not just one. It makes sense, two were really messed up, but at the appointment she was only discussing one as far as I understood it. Last second change is a guarantee of a meltdown for me normally, but I didn't even have a chance to freak out before I was being taken back.

The arm that was having all the symptoms is now completely pain free, no more buzzing or numbness which is amazing. Now it's just dealing with the surgical pain.

So I am now officially a cyborg.

Had a trip to the ER yesterday (had trouble breathing) and had a nurse mess something up while I was there, but I'm home again, the mess up is fixable and I'm still healing up. The pain is getting much more manageable, but it's still very draining to heal from all of this.

Don't rush it, and follow all the instructions to the letter. You probably won't do that but I'm just reminding you its important.

I hope people around you (family or friends ) realize you are in a very fragile and weak state, and take extremely good care of you and whatever tasks u need to do, they do it for u or help out.

I really hope that is the case. if not please do not hesitate to state the need to them blatantly without any shyness, as often ppl are so wrapped up they don't realize the degree of help someone else needs. I really hope the recovery process goes smoothly.
