The importance of having a purpose

Making my family and friends happy.

here's more - exploring, making beautiful things that people can enjoy, perfecting myself, getting uploaded into a simulation and travelling back in time


i'm realistic.

Thus far , none of the other posts purposes sound like they would be so meaningful, (for me,)

Maybe for someone else

It reminds me of, my family is important to me, and I am not important

100% of zero, is still zero



"Purpose", like goal?

I ain't got no goal

And have not had any for a long time

Since structural engineering

Exception:. Accounting, menopause



Usually it ends up, the goal requires a lot more energy, time and money than imagined

Or even if I achieve the goal, whooptie do

It wasn't worth the effort




But not having goals is also bad

I'm not much use to anybody and have very little purpose. I help out my mother (as she does with me) when I can but I'm not very good at providing emotional support. If anything happened to her I'd be completely worthless.

as near as I can tell, my purpose is to do no harm and to help where I am best equipped to help.

I have no idea what my purpose is. I can't live the life I want and I have to live with my mama, and once she is gone I don't know what the hell I'm going to do with the rest of my life. If my brother and sister won't take care of me I'm probably going to end up homeless.

Knowledge, or perhaps understanding, is my primary purpose in life.

1. Take care of my family and friends

2. Have fun

3. Work toward better health services for autistic people

Now that I think about it, if I was actually religous I wouldn't mind a job trying to comfort people who are dying. Like a Chaplain.

I want people who are close to dying to not have to feel the fear that I would feel.

That is a good purpose auntblabby. I whole heartedly agree.

I guess I'm alright as long as I can make a few friends laugh & teach them something.

I would be mightily impressed if I could teach somebody something they could use.

"Harm" and "help" are vague and subjective and misleading

Everything helps and hurts someone

For example, Mussolini was "helping" the Gestapo




A Baptist Republican civil engineer (2006 San Diego) had the nerve to tell me that "the meaning of life is helping people! "). Then he announced that it was "lying" for me to ask him to call me "he" instead you "she"

Homophobic ass hole never even had to verbally apologize for the damage he inflicted




But whatever, at least he didn't kill me

All he did was yell at me




Sometimes , it is not as obvious as it appears, what is "helping"


"Helping" whom , do what?

The Holocaust was "ethnic cleaning"


Every political group has its own euphemisms

not voting for The Dotard at least avoided contributing to greater harm. sometimes all we can do is do our best to exercise our best judgment in ameliorating the harm of others in whatever ways we can.

Purpose:

1The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

I thought I'd like to see the definition of purpose.
