It's true----a couple of drinks don't make you an alcoholic. But what would be troubling is if you drink alcohol when you get up in the morning; I've known people who, instead of having their morning coffee, have their morning swig of whiskey.

That was me, but I drank Kahlua as my morning coffee.

Havent been drinking long because I only recieve a small check at the beginning of the month. So whenever I have money I drink like every second day.

I drink alone.

I think about drinking whenever I have money. Every night that I have money I think about it.

When I wake up in the morning my first thought is coffee then food. But as soon as those are over with I think about getting drunk.

Only the person themselves can say if drinking is causing them problems. If you think it's a problem, it's a problem. The good thing that I have found is that at least I was more likely to stay home. Regardless of what you decide, it all boils down to not picking up that drink or drug. Do not lose hope, WE DO RECOVER!

Well, the OP did title the post as I am an alcoholic, I don't get why we would be supportive of self diagnosed Aspies and tell a self diagnosed alcoholic they aren't. My guess is it's more than two nights total, it's just that the latest is two nights in a row. I'm expressing support too.

The alcohol gives you a brief escape, like any addiction.
But the problem's still there when you come back down.
So you need to work on fixing the problem, not blotting out the problem.
The problems you mentioned are loneliness and boredom.
Perhaps ask the psychologist to help you with thinking of suitable activities you can do that involve some socialisation as well as establishing some kind of routine that doesn't involve drinking.

That's not all you were doing though were you ? You had to have a snipe at what you thought was 'undue levity' , that's your moral highground.

The DSM’s criteria for alcoholism is not as strict as many of us would assume.

Correct me if I’m wrong someone, but alcoholism is a spectrum. It’s probably best to start working on it now before it escalates even further.

My ex was (and is) an alcoholic and an addict.
