Do..... you....... like....... can........ dy.......?

Etc. In a long string of simple yes/no questions.

Oh God, that's awful. OH GOD, THAT'S AWFUL.

No. But I DO hate the question "what kind of music do you listen to?" It always seems like a lame, scripted attempt to appeal to the universal and establish rapport.

I hate that question as well as the "what are your interests?" question. I always seem to give a bland and generic answer. With music, people seem to want to know specific artists or bands and I just can't blurt out a few.

No I don't hate it. In fact I don't mind if people ask me it because I know my answer to it.

Yeah, its not the interests themselves, but that I'm certain they are going to assume that's all I am. If they asked, realizing that its just a cursory clue about me, a step to start to get to know me better, wouldn't bother me at all. Never seems to work out that way though, so I cringe having to answer questions like that.

yeah it's the exact same with me... I have 'Music' to answere to them.. but for everything else I dont feel like talking about.. its the only thing that really connects me to other people is music.. but no matter what i say i always give off he impression of lonerism.. and i hate being judged based on what i do, id rather be judged based on how they like me as a person.. but people are so stupid :x

I usually just go blank when people ask me questions like this. I see a white screen in my mind.

But generally speaking I don't think people would want to know my interests! Sometimes I get fixated with morbid or sensitive things, so I've learned to keep quiet.

Though some of my other interests are safe to talk about, I suppose.

This question is often 'small talk' and I don't know what to do with that, generally. I usually mistakenly respond as if the questioner gives a hoot, and am then annoyed at how the questioner immediately acts bored or frustrated.

One of my superiors at a job used to ask me, every couple of weeks, what I was reading. I'd list whatever four or five things I was reading that week and she'd roll her eyes and say, "Sounds boring," and wander off. I have no idea what to make of this infuriating ritual, and cannot fathom why it happened like clockwork for so long.

My favorite music, though dear to me, tells you very little about my personality. Same with movies. You will end up knowing a lot more if you ask me about my favorite books.

My mom has to beg me not to talk about Nazis or diseases when we have company. She says that people will think I'm an anti-Semite, a "Columbine kid," or a bioterrorist. I find it hard to believe that "historian" or "doctor" would not occur to these people.

What are your favorite books?

The 120 Days of Sodom or the School of Licentiousness?

Christian Domestic Discipline 101?

That is because you somehow think that people have good sense. They don't. You should come over to the thread on PPR about whether the humanity deserves to be destroyed by nuclear holocaust. For awhile, yes was winning, but then some people just messed up that trend.

I very rarely hate the question, but it usually puzzles me, especially when the original poster somehow makes it clear that he/she doesn't actually know what to do with the answers.

At first I'm embarrassed to tell someone about my geeky interests, but at least it gives me SOMETHING I can talk about.

I hate that question because the most honest reply would be "Absolutely nothing you have any interest in hearing about and if I told you, you would lose any respect for me that you may have".
