I did some reading about social triads (groups of three) and found that the two weaker members of a triad are more likely to team up on the third, stronger member.

It's as if when you team up on one person, you can say or do whatever you want, and it doesn't matter. To stand your ground against the mindless herd and defend your generosity is real business.

I dont know wether i should be feeling better, worse, or nuetral? While my situations are varied as i am the older sibling ( male 15), and my parents dont mean to be as bad as they are, i can't help, but read your post and see a mear image of it in my life  It's like im not there, or my whole family is that oblivious, just to give my example; We have a "small get-to-gether", as my mom reffers to it, so we go, im already nervous so i have taken some pill that is supposed to relax me ( the name of it is xanax ), it really didn't work. So not even 15 mins, and there is almost 25-30 ppl there ( i really dont consider that a small group, and the fact that i knew almost know one ), it takes me 30 mins of trying to get my moms attention, 3 text messege's, and 2 mins of complete staring at my mother and father before one of them walks over and asks if i needed anything :wall: nearly 5 hours later i pretty much juust sat in there garauge the whole time, cluelessly wondering what to do. This isn't the first time stuff like this has happened to me either, i dont get it, what is it going to take to let my parents know that things need to be different ( my 'label' up until age 13 was NT if you will ), i have tried to sit down with them, get my doctor to sit down with them plus me, and countless other attempt's, yet nothing is working? I know that for them relating to AS is hard, but i have given them, the most detailed, dumbed-down, explinations of nearly every aspect of my life, and what happens ............... nothing, WTF! If it wasn't for the fact that i lock my door and blast music, so i can't hear them, try to do projects ( which apparentlly is now some huge hazardous, "we're all going to die' thing" ), i think i would go insane and have a schedueled meltdown time every day. It's riddiculous, this should not be that hard to do for my parents.

What have i been missing, that eludes to their ill comprehension, of AS, or something "different" ?!?!?

Pardon any of my spelling and grammer

Looks like your sister likes the attention at your expense...

Looks like your mom is in bliss (ignorance is bliss, thus also no repsonsibility)...

When I was younger and still lived at home, my own mother would purposely manipulate me for her own good, yet would not acknowledge anything, but chose to be ignorant because it was more convenient for her to ignore me and not help me than to take rRESponsibility as a mother and take care of her kids including me as a resposible parent...

When I got a bit older, my younger sister started doing the same crap as my mom, manipulating and using me at my own expense to benefit their laziness and selfishness impulses... A few years of this and I eventually got my stuff together and bee nable to say no and to keep them away from me in ways in which they would manipulate me no more... My e wife helped me out a lot with this but consistently pointing things out I was oblivious to so I eventually learned to grow some 'thick skin' about this stuff...

Hang in there, just get through this time... if you can, learn what you can so you can use it to better yourself... and whn you are able, eventually get yourself into a better enviroment that works good for you... I hae been walked all over and used and then some because of the Autie behaviors I have had in the past. It can be very confusing and also hurtful for those who should understand the most, just do not seem to really care enough but are more concerned for themselves first and foremost and leave you on the outside...

My oldest two do get stressed out when there were family gatherings. I also would get stressed out as well and would have to get away... A lot of times, thes all day events, when ever me or one of my kids were starting to stress out from the situation, Either I or me and them would get out for a while... might be a walk down the street 2 blocks away and goof off for an hour before going back, laying out in the grass in an area wher eno one is around or something else to get out of the enviroment affected by the event...

Me knowing what it is like and then being sensitive to help my kids out when they also were stressing out and stuff, makes a difference because eventually they got better dealing with these events by gettign better at managing their stress level before a meltdown...

And it sucks being targeted as a scape goat... years ago, my 2 boys started targeting my youngest son as a scapegoat because he had a tendency to be mischeveous when bored (ADHD) and usually breaks something or harasses his sister and start fights.... Yelling and threats do no good.... only makes it worse....

like that greek fire stuff... keep throwing water on it thinking it will go out but it only gets the fire going even more...

doing stuff in a constructive way works out better.... redirecting rathre than pointing blame... the blame game is a cop out of being responsible....

my family always told me to "snap out" of whatever is bothering me. it never ever occured to any of them, that i might not be "quite normal", and they still have no idea.
im nearly 30, and theyre still expecting me to "snap out" and get a job and stuff, and be all "geeze guys, you were right! all i had to do was stop being lazy and wow! im swimming in cash, chicks and social occations now!"

im still gonna remain a closet-aspie. my doctor refused to do a test on me, cus she thought there was "no point" :S i just met her, so i dunno what shes thinking, i think she must be suspecting that i wanna get meds or something I DUNNO :(

but what annoys me is... if/when i ever get a diagnose, people wont get it, and they will still tell me how easily i can "snap out" if i "only want to".

This is one example that I find irritating about other people... They believe that everyone else should be similar tothemselves and thus they are onloy purposely deviating from the normal, average or what is percieved to be the acceptable outcome...

It is not like everyone is wired by default like taht particular person.... Hello, wake up please... The world does not revolve around themselves.. it is this metality I perceive from peopel who think I or others on the spectrum can just snap out of it... turn off some switch inside and be normal as what is the current normal for the times today should be... It does not work that way...

Just because someone is like out there a bit further than from that persons comfort zone does not mean that we work at being eccentric... It is like saying, "Geez, I think I'll stem a lot today and add a little depression and have a mood swing after dinner for the added drama"... To tell me or others to 'snap out of it', it is annoying and shows their ignorance of what we go through to adapt to an extent within our abilities to function...

I am in a store and very frustrated... people do not see the amount of turmoil I deal wih in the inside to keep from getting physically aggressive as an outburst, or the amount of resisting I do conciously from stemming in public... nope, they just see someone tht is a bit more quiet as usual, not that talkative and appears to be nervous/stressed out... I just do not have the ability to decide; "Geez, im about to have a melt down, should of turned my Autistic behaviors a few hours ago"...

that sounds rediculous.... like what I am about to say is even more so... (attempt to be ironic)

Next friday night, for everyy guy on this thread over 18, snap out of it for the night and go to the bar to pick up a gal... remember, you have to snap out of it because we can turn it on or off, we just do this for the attention and the drugs... my as well do it to pick up a woman...

This has nothing to do with the topic but i wanna know where you read that. I think i faced a similar situation in the last year of college when i had to work with two classmates, they made my life miserable.

My mum just used that on me too. You know what I'm going to do, just let her win. She's the one that won't keep an open mind so I won't bother trying to make her understand. That's not to say I will try to act 'normal'. Far from it. Her and a friend are taking me to a restaurant tonight and I'm not going to force being normal. No hiding stims, no not saying anything inappropriate, etc.
I tried to talk to her even about being non-verbal, so she then says 'how will you be at a job?' I could then go on and say some people with AS can't work, but I won't because she'll think I've given up.
I've actually given up on her and other NT's.
She even thinks I can control my moods when they are caused by a mental illness (PMDD). :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I don't remember exactly where I read it.

It almost seems that when two people team up on you, their intelligence decreases by half to compensate. ;)
