I think George W. Bush is a good role model for aspies weather you like him or not, because he is a terrible public speaker and most us are not good at communicating, so it gives us more hope that we too can be a president, and not to mention he went to Yale University, plus he had to put up with "bullying" worse then anything we'll ever experience and he still gets bashed even after Obama became president.

Aha, so that is why he ran your economy down the toilet (and then some) - he took out his repressed rage on the entire nation.

The problem isn't that he's a terrible speaker (he's not), but that he took on a job he was grossly underqualified for. The problem is that he was a guy who was average in intelligence and ambition born into a powerful family that pushed him into many positions he had no business being in. The reason he was such a poor speaker on so many topics was because he didn't fully understand most of the topics he had to speak about. He doesn't have aspergers, he just got in over his head, so of course he looked awkward.

I'd love to see republicans and democrats sit down and have an intelligent debate about their viewpoints and mutual political roles instead of cursing each other out. It gets really stupid and reminds me of a plutocracy.

I lean toward democracy myself, if only because Christianity is a form of boogeyman ethics that doesn't respect other religions (as equally false as they may be). I hope that doesn't make you mad -- that's how I feel.

This reminds of at the last aspie gathering. This aspie tells the leader he read that George W Bush has AS and he wants to hear his opinion about it. The guy says "No he is just an idiot" and the aspie said "I wanted to hear that from a writer." The aspie that asked for his opinion didn't think he was aspie either and he was also an idiot.

Except expressing certain opinions is not much different to cursing people out :)

The way I was taught Christianity I assumed that Jesus would have voted democrat. :)

I agree, but I also think the old testament God was probably a Republican.

"homophobic, bigot, racist, ignorant, selfish"

These are not insults. If someone is calling you this, it's probably true. If you said something to deserve one of these, then you probably started it. It's very offensive to discriminate based on sexual orientation or race.

No, your stereotyping because I don't hate people because of race and I don't mind if gays get married. After all there are Log Cabin Gays (Republican Gays) and black Republicans as well as female Republican such as myself and Abe Lincoln who was a Republican freed the slaves.

Just like there is Catholic Democrats

I think the main problem is that people identify themselves as "Republican" or "Democrat" in the first place. Both parties fluidly change their beliefs to achieve the highest amount of votes. Neither of the parties truely "stand" for anything in particular. If you want people to listen to your beliefs when it comes to politics, instead of identifying with a party, just state who you voted for and why. Then people can't mistakenly attribute abhorant ideals to you.

They are used as attack insults by paranoid jerks, to invalidate one's feelings, or to drive a defensive "back at you" when they feel negatively effected. So no, they are insults.

I was just wondering what if someone is REALLY Homophobic and can't help it?
Wouldn't that be kinda mean, if they had a mental illness?
I know it sounds silly, but then again there was a grown woman who had a phobia of pickles! A homosexual could have the ability to harm you, but a pickle, I guess unless if your highly allergic to pickles.
There's many strange phobias out there
If someone was scared of me, I would just stay away from them.

Here's some odd ones:
Allodoxaphobia - Fear of opinions.
Aurophobia - Fear of gold.
Barophobia - Fear of gravity.
Bibliophobia - Fear of books.
Chronomentrophobia - Fear of clocks.
Dutchphobia - Fear of the Dutch.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - Fear of long words.
Japanophobia - Fear of Japanese.
Judeophobia - Fear of Jews.
Lachanophobia - Fear of vegetables.
Russophobia - Fear of Russians.
Urophobia - Fear of urine or urinating.

Oh good Lord.

Here's a fun little story for you: at the age of 8, I moved from an admittedly typical Southern town in Georgia to a little town in Ohio. I had a Southern accent, I was a lot more laid back than everyone else, and it was easy to tell that I wasn't from around there. You want to know the amount of times I was called a racist, simply for having lived in the South? I was even asked at one point, in complete seriousness, if I was part of the Ku Klux Klan. I hadn't even said a single word to some of these people (and there were no non-whites in our entire grade, if that makes a difference). I'm not even full white, although it doesn't show.

And you know what the funny thing is? That school up in Ohio was 99.9% white. There were exactly two kids in the entire high school who were black. Now that I'm back in Georgia, I realized the town I grew up in (and am back in) is maybe 50% white. The kids in Ohio were so much less accepting of them; they called them racial slurs, immediatly assumed they were walking stereotypes, and out and out refused to work with them; I was horrified to be anywhere near some of the more outspoken racist ones. In Georgia, no one cares; it makes no difference to most people about who is from where or has what skin.

Yet I'm an automatic racist because I come from the South. Glad to know I deserve that title. They said so, so it's true! Mind you, I wouldn't trust anything they said, but oh well.

Seriously, people are quick to make snap judegments without knowing anything. Those kinds of terms are thrown around because they make people react, and that's what the instigator wants. It's a button that's easy to set off.

It's not even about actual views and ideals anymore. I would have voted for McCain in the last election, had I been old enough at the time. It's not that I agree in general with the Republican ideals, because I don't, but because I felt that he would have been the better one, and I'm entitled to that opinion. Do you know why I think that? No, of course you don't, because I haven't told you. But to some people, that automatically means I'm homophobic or racist or some such thing. It's not about what I believe, because people don't know that: it's about a snap judgement.

Which is why I don't participate in politics in general. The "accept everyone" party usually annoys me, because "everyone" means "everyone who agrees with us." The "WASP males only" party annoys me, because, well "WASP males only." Everyone's always fighting without bothering to take time to think, and it's not worth it.

Judging by the original post those people were reacting to opinions expressed. Not to someone's accent, where they live or claimed political affiliation.

Edit:
I would say that the opinions were racist, etc rather than the person was.

Of course people will always wonder about a person who is expressing those opinions.
