I went to a restaurant last night with a neighbor. He's a vet and it was military appreciation day at the Golden Corral. It was very busy, we had to wait in the rain in a line that almost circled the building to get in. Anyway, I started watching people and saw a waitress waiting for two elderly men who were chatting to finish talking so she could get through. They were blocking her path. Anyway, she was not part of the conversation but she kept a huge grin plastered on her face and glanced from man to man like she was part of the conversation. They didn't realize she was waiting, I think. I was thinking, I probably wouldn't have the patience for that. I'd just turn around and find another route and I wouldn't think to smile.

I could also see into a back wait station. I saw a waiter go back there with a big happy face and a soon as he got back out of view (the wait station had a wall blocking view from the dining area) he got a sour expression on his face and started talking to himself (he was alone). I could tell from his expression he was saying all the things he wished he could say. He tossed his head dramatically and said something with a sneer and happened to see me watching him so I looked away quickly.

Random people watching observations.

My day has been pleasant even if I'm dealing with a cold which, was contracted from one of the many schoolchildren I work around.Still, things have turned out quite nicely and all.Been working on trying to improve my social skils for there are outher autistics in my area but, they tend to congregate at the local university and I'm not a student mind you.
Lastly, merely finding out how to get a better hand on various pieces of software so, I can hope to work in the library..

Hello - I don't hover so much as thud today... it has been a long day. I am working hard at menial tasks and everyone wants everything yesterday. Oh well, I should be thankful I have a job, and all that.

After work I went to dinner with a new meetup group. It is a time bank, where people volunteer their time to help other members do things, like repairs, housework, rides, etc. It seems like a good way to meet people. So far we just sat around and ate Mexican food.

Aimless - I also would have gone around if I could - otherwise I'd have to stand there and give them the evil eye. It's pretty funny that you caught the waiter talking to himself - I like to catch people doing that but make sure they don't know I'm watching.

ProfessorX - I hope you get over your cold quickly - I had one last week and thankfully it didn't last long.

Goodnight all, better luck tomorrow I hope.

@greenturtle74: Yeah, sometimes I forget it's real people and not a movie I'm watching.

I'm doing okay though, often I find it difficult often in the context of being taken serious.Often, there are times when my wording as such be it emails, posts, etc more than likely tend to be deciphered in-accurately whereabouts, it leads to a misunderstanding or simply that I appear dumb in most circumstances.Yes, I realise I should not be so critical of such but, I've come to understand that unless one's writings are in sync with grammar rules & language usage one can find themselves the odd person out.. Honestly, I'm not sure what else to add here in this post except, my fondness of unorthodx curios does tend to help me reduce my stress over such social scenarios..

Aimless, I like the new avatar. :)

ProfessorX, I hope you feel you are taken seriously here - I have seen much worse abuse of grammar/language than in your posts. I have the opposite problem; I get taken much more seriously in writing than verbally.

Today... I got some things done but still cracking under the stress. Wasted 10 minutes stopped still in traffic this morning until the work crew decided to let us through. Wasted 20 minutes this evening on the phone with physical therapist and insurance company, to clear up their mistake. Well, tomorrow I don't go to work, at least. I get to dress up, go to a conference, eat some good food, attend some workshops, and make feeble attempts to network. Not sleeping well; hope I do better tonight.

:D The bear and I go way back as well. Last year I picked up a copy of the "Complete Tales and Poems" anthology.

Yes, I find that being in this thread is not a great hassle unto me for, I don't feel uncomfortable by any means.
Well, my day has been fair for, working at a school can be interesting in putting in a shortened matter still, one that is never without it's rewards.Aimless, interesting avatar indeed..

Today I went to my conference, and it was all right - some useful information and some not so useful. Hot tasty dinner rolls. Got to talk with one person I know, but otherwise I continue to fail at networking.

Later I went to physical therapy to try to get my elbow working again. They want me to go 3 times a week for 3 weeks. I am so busy but nothing else has worked, I have to try it.

This is really a difficult time of year for me. The holidays are coming and they stress me out. I am not feeling great. Really need to have something to keep me going to make it through this.

I'm not crazy about the holiday season either. All that forced conviviality. Bleh. :eew:
